There are all sorts of "Show Off" pic threads for when everything looks good and goes right. Let's see when things go WRONG! Share it with the world. Be proud. If nothing else good comes from the day, at least you can post a pic here and feel like you've accomplished Something.

Stick it, dent it, scratch it, break it off or botch an install? Let's See 'Em!

Primarily truck related, but feel free to vent and get over it. Whatever doesn't quite work out in life. Bad hair cut, wake up with a Wookie from the bar last night, drop that carton of eggs on the driveway, some ****** back into your car at the Mall? Whatever!

I could probably fill this up with my own stuck truck and "do it yourself" projects gone haywire, but I will start with just todays goof up.

Thank God for Warn Winches and Tough Trees!

Went out today for a little cruise, and got down in a little bowl of a valley and got spun around. OK, a little confused as to how I got in there and where the trail was to get out. It was all Talcum Powder blown in stuff and I had been being lazy by not "Airing Down" prior to heading into a known soft spot. I immediately sunk up to my pumpkins with the little back-n-forth that I could get going. By the time I realized I was rapidly getting in deep doo-doo it was almost too late. I ran the Winch line out to the only thing close enough to even think of helping me out; A small dried up dead tree stump, only about 5" in diameter and 18" tall. It, too was just in a soft mound with very little root base, if any. So, I really Aired Down, kicked it in 4Lo-Lo and Locked up the Diff's.

Much to my amazement, that little stump held hard enough to drag me up and over -high centered and all- just enough up the slope, and back on the surface of the "crust". It was pulling so hard, even in gear with light throttle to assist, that it almost stalled out my 12.5K Lbs rated Winch!!! But it held.

I was able to unhook, bump back up in 4Hi and then, with momentum, now aired down, pull back and then make a dash out of the pocket of doom. Whew!

Damn Lucky. Incredibly tough tree, and an even tougher truck! If I was in my Half Ton 4x4, I would still be there building a signal fire!

I don't think I can could how many times I've cut or stabbed myself while doing projects on the trucks. Pictures really aren't priority when you're throwing a screwdriver across the street because it just went into your hand. Haha
Do those moments count as goof ups?

Slid on some ice/snow and hit a trash can doing about 25. The worst part tho was picking up the trash that I just launched all over their yard.

Absolutely! I almost mentioned including the various injuries resulting from wrenching or just being in, under and around machinery running or not.
But I didn't want to encourage total gore or graphic stuff that would get the thread shut down. Sometimes the most painful ones, are banging the head, pinches, burns or dropping stuff on soft body parts (I guess they are all technically pretty soft, lol).

But heck yeah! Post Em Up!

Reminds me of when I was in high school, and had a bit more of a bad temper. My damn VW Baja bug broke down on me (yet again) right as I was getting ready to go out for a hot date. I was so pissed, I threw my big assed socket (the type that fits the large IRS axle nuts) at my car in fury. I didn't much care, as it was a "beater" and all primered up and muddy. A ding would not be an issue. Or so I thought.... rather than just skipping off the tail section, it went IN through the rear window, and right OUT the rear quarter panel window!!!! Now, I had a bad wheel bearing, and TWO shattered windows to deal with! Arghhhh. 30 years ago, no pics, but what a mess. I don't throw things at my vehicles, or anything else for that matter, anymore. :jnono:

Posted elsewhere here in the last few months, but I might as well come clean and keep the momentum up by posting them up once again;

Stuck the Power Wagon in quicksand on the shoreline of Lake Isabella, CA while fully loaded up and alone. Saved by a very cool 1st Gen owner who came along to let me latch on with the Winch and use him as an anchor to get myself out without so much as busting a sweat or damage.

Then a couple with my fun little modded up Suzuki Samurai; One, nosing into a difficult to see wash out across a trail last summer after a violent Monsoonal downpour - Power Wagon and Winch came to the rescue on that one, no harm, no foul.

And, last but not least, 'Wheeling on the ice in a blowing snow last winter in a local creek. Broke through and sunk to the frame rails, filling the cab to the bottom of the dash with very cold, muddy water with a very strong current. Once again, Big Brother Power Wagon made short work of yanking it back to the high and dry shoreline, with the only damage being a frozen soaked butt and boots full of mud. Lol.

*True, often the the "Best" of the bad situations go undocumented or photographed. Last thing you think of in the stress and often frantic moments following a significant goof up, is to stop and snap some good high quality pictures.

Hopefully with the start of this thread, that will change, and folks will have flashes of brilliance and take a moment or two to grab some shots to share with the rest of us humans and make us all feel a little it better. :happy160:

Earlier this year someone hit me in the garage at my school... bought a new bullbar and passed the old one down to a friend who will use it to shove small trees to the ground so it wasnt a total loss but very annoying!

Bullbar got pushed toward the passenger side and got a bunch of scuffs and scratches.. like I said very small amount of damage but very annoying to a car guy!

Boy, there are a couple good ones there. Care to tell us how they happened?

Each entry should come with a little description, I would think.

Not Dodge related, but I had an oops the other day in a tandem end dump truck, was turning around on soft clay/sand and in about half a second I had sunk down to the frame. I was able to rock it and almost got out, then it just started spinning :( We used a dozer and a 120,000lb rated recovery strap (rated over double the weight of the truck) and the strap almost broke from the effort to pull the truck out. Gotta love spring, eh?

I was going through an intersection and someone ran a red light to my left t-boning me at about 45mph
Here was the other vehicle:
imagejpeg_2_10.jpg

I was coming down a steep hill towards a round-about on ice. At the bottom of the hill was an accident blocking the road with people walking around the vehicles. I had the choice of creating a bloodbath or ditching the truck... which so happened to be into a pole.
You can see the hill in the back of this picture:

Me and a buddy had a 1986 Chevy K20 project. We were doing a complete teardown in the garage... it just so happened that the truck was taller than the garage when we went to remove the cab...

:Whoa:

I wanna see that strap!

And Thnx USMC1188, that is some crazy stuff. Odd about the massive mud hole with the quad in it, how you can back right up to it on dry ground. I would have driven right into that pit!
