I have a 2015 dodge ram 4x4, 6.4. - it started to have a slight shudder at about 2 seconds from leaving a stop after driving about 25 to 30 minutes. It had approximately 23 to 24000 miles. After about 6 months Dodge tells me this is normal even after them replacing the rear diff.
They are telling me because it has a posi rear end.
My question is is why a big car dealership like this work on your truck, replace parts that do not need to be replaced and then tell you it's now NORMAL.
At one point in time they told me the tires were shopping and need to be replaced that this was the issue. Even though they rotated them on a regular basis. I wanted bigger tires and needed new ones so I did replace them, even though I knew they were not chopping but.....

First off, what tires are you running? If they have an aggressive tread pattern the shudder could simply be from the tires themselves. Second, what is the configuration of your truck? Crew cab? Mega cab? Short box? Long box? Depending on the configuration it could have a carrier bearing which can sometimes be an issue. However, your truck is all stock correct? Third, has the pinion angle been checked?

Turn off Hill Assist , in your center displaycontrols right between your gauges.

Hill Assist keeps the brakes applied, while you apply the gas, to prevent the truck from rolling backwards, when on a hill.

when left"ON",during normal driving, hill assist has been known to cause a shudder. not unlike the shudder you get from warped rototrs. Basically, you are fighting against your brakes.

My '16 Laramie CC with 6.4 does not have hill assist. Good chance his doesn't either. Without there being any noticeable unusual noises in the drivetrain, I would first rule out the simple stuff. Transmission fluid level. Torque converter. Computer updates. Fuel system. Run some fuel system cleaner through it. Run a top tier 89 or higher fuel in it. Change the fuel filter. Check all the simple things first! Watch and listen closely at everything you do and see if/ what makes any difference. But if it is an actual "shudder", the torque converter/transmission fluid/filter would be very near the top of my list to check first.

My 2014 does this EXACT same thing. Under load and/or being hotter makes it worse. I complained and couldn't get my dealer to do anything until something breaks. I have the lifetime warranty so I guess I'm just waiting.

FWIW, I was thinking of re-gearing and while on the phone with West Coast Differentials I asked about this to get an educated 3rd opinion and he said it's pretty normal due to the limited slip thing. For what ever reason some trucks just have it worse than others.

My old Duramax did this a bit but not quite as bad as my Ram. I just live with it and try to ignore it.
