I'm looking to put side steps on my truck.
Anyone used the Carr Side Steps (aluminum)? They apparently bolt to the rockers.

I want (need) side steps, but don't have the few hundred bucks to spare in order to purchase nicer ones..

The car steps are like 50$ for a pair of single hoops from JCWhitney.

Thanks

I paid $40 for mine. Factory Hummer H2's off craigslist. You might find some pretty cheap on there

I got mine from the local A&A auto..i cant remember what i paid now. but mine bolt right to the rockers too. make sure you have strong rockers though, otherwise theyll move a little bit when you step on em. i think the above ones are a nicer design and worth the extra bit of money imo.

I went to Pep Boys yesterday, looking for steps/hoops.. They have the Bully cast aluminum hoops for $55/pr, but the box had been opened, and fingerprints (dirt) on the instructions, so I opted to pass on them..

Mine are mounted to the frame. Used some L-channel, and some bar. Neighbor helped weld it up. I have pics but can't seem to find where I loaded them onto the computer. I will try searching tonight

I can (with my discount) get the Bully 10" hoops for $43/pr (or $76 for 2pr) locally. They look alot like yours, from what I can tell.

Ok, so I bought 2 pr of Bully hoops today, for $81. Didn't think that was a bad deal.

I'm contemplating Rhino Lining them for added traction, and to make them appear a little less noticeable.

I picked them up this evening, so wouldn't you know, it started snowing.. I'll hopefully get to put them on later this week.

I got the driver's side front one on last night. It was just too cold to do the rest. :)

Maybe I can get the other ones on this week. 1 down, 3 to go. LOL

Tools needed:
Drill/screw gun
3/8" drill bit
1/4" drill bit
1/8" drill bit
1/2" wrench
1/2" socket
short extension
ratchet
tape measure
marking utensil

Dave, you'll need to open the top holes in the step to 1/4", as the #8 sheet metal screw doesn't quite fit through the step hole. Definitely pre-drill the wedge, as it'll break if you dont... :Stupid Me:
I pre-drilled it, but didn't have the holes lined up perfectly, so the screw tried to go through the wedge material (some sort of composite plastic) and SNAP.. Luckily, it only broke off a small portion of the material, and was still functional.

As long as you like em. That look good but I like nerfs more. In my mind they are harder to catch on stuff like logs etc.

I got the ones that I made from powder coating yesturday (I get a killer deal through work for powder coating). Got em installed this morning. I still need to make a non-skid step pad yet and screw into place, but in due time.
