From time to time I have noticed that after I come to a compete stop, I hear a slight “clunk”. Most of the times I hear it after I am stopped.

Not feeling anything “off” with the drive. Just a “wtf was that” when it happens.

Thoughts?

Transmission flash will most likely cure the bump stop. Might want to check with your dealer. Mine used to do that just before stopping, like an extra push/thunk, but as it broke in that vanished.

Thanks! Are you suggesting that software resolved it?

Mines a 14 with the 8 speed. Bought it brand new 1/17/15 and mine has always done it. Not every time, but one out of every 10 stops or so. Even though I know what it is I always look in the rear view to make sure someone didn't rear end me.

My 2014,8 speed Express i used to have did it from the day i drove it off the lot. If i would stop, then let off the gas enough to barely start rolling it would clunk pretty hard like it was going down to 1st gear. Have a 16 now and it doesn't do it. Really annoying and i never figured out a fix.

Mine does it on stop and go, but more common on going from a stop or slow roll. Going in for a lot of warranty work next Friday, so I'll bring it up then.

Let us know what they say or do. I will probably bring mine to the dealer to see if the trans flash is applicable.

Just picked my vehicle up. Was told that it was “Flashed” but tech notes simply says “Learned Trans Clutch Fill Times, Update Trans Controllers, Reset Adaptives, and Perform Quicklearn Retest”.

I have to say I feel like it’s smoother and the Service Manager knew of the issue. Told me software resolves the issue most of the time.

Will keep any eye on it, but seems better.

I lubed my driveshaft joints and the clunk went away.

Mine started doing the same thing after the dealer updated programming for odd shifting problems Still have not had a chance to go back but had three updates bed, lights turned on transmission update and park recall. Just ran the wire for bed lights and I believe bed light function was not turned on, transmission shifts much worse and auto park recall must have not worked as I decided to try it. Did not work at all. Looks like I am finding a new dealer.

My 2018 6.4 does the same thing in city traffic. I use manual mode and lock out 6th gear and it helps a lot.

Does the dealer charge to fix these sort of things?

Yes, 2014 does this about once every month or so. If feels like someone 'tapped' your rear bumper.
