Hey guys
I'm experiencing a slight clunk/thud in the rear end when accelerating from a dead stop. It only occurs going forward around 2mph or so. It almost feels like something in the rear end is binding which I though maybe a seized brake component in the rear.

This happened right after towing my travel trailer (5000lbs loaded).

I read it could be the hill assist which i doubt because it happened right after I towed.

My mind is leaning towards an issue with the read shocks? Anyhow, I have two outstanding recalls to get done so I will take the truck in next week for the proper diagnosis.

I would check my universal joints. They will give a thud when taking off. Also, when we tow, if our trailer brakes are not set strong enough, our truck's brakes are picking up the slack. I would check my rear brakes as well.

When ever I've had a rear brake sticking, I will drive in reverse and apply the brakes firmly a few times. This seems to reseat everything.

Just tested it and I'm 90% sure it's the rear brakes binding. Occurs in reverse too but less pronounced then forwards. My other guess would be a u joint but i only have 15000miles on it.

Will see next Monday!

Hi Gero,

If you end up going into the dealer, let me know. I am available via direct message and can escalate your inquiry to a Case Specialist for further handling.
