Could have been there all along and I just noticed. But hot or cold I hear a slight whine through 1st and 2nd gear. As I accelerate it gets louder, by 3rd gear it's gone. It sounds normal, wife says it's normal. Doesnt hurt to ask.

Thanks in advance.

Going to take from the complete lack of response it's normal and I am being paranoid. Funny when a lack of response is in itself a response.

Check engine light? Issues shifting? Check fluid level? Torque converter? Just throwing it out there as torque converter will whine when there an issue. What year and how many Km/miles?

I’ve never noticed with my truck, maybe normal as these hemis have loud drivetrains anyways, not to mention all the damn ticking issues.

A 2019 I wouldn’t hesitate to have the dealer assess it and at least you’ll have a paper trail if it worsens.

Gear whine is always present to some degree; it’s not black/ white. More like 50 shades of gray, and who’s doing the listening.

Hi David, We certainly understand why this may be concerning. We kindly recommend having your dealer inspect this concern for you as they are in the best position to assist. If you do work with your dealer, we would be more than happy to provide you with additional support.

I've had an occasional whine while accelerating and sometimes decelerating. If I don't have whine, I'll have beer instead...:D

Sorry, I couldn't resist.....

Since your not sure if it is new or not, I would have the dealer check the fluid level. There is a you tube video that shows the process of just checking the level. I would also check the rear diff fluid level.

No check engine light, no issues at all. I cant tell if its getting louder than it was before but there is a definite whine while sitting idle and until I get out of second gear. Again, it could have been there forever and I just noticed it.

Thanks for everyone's response, going to get my tires rotated tomorrow, I suppose I will mention it while I am there. But I am sure I am going to get, thats normal.

I have noticed my 8 speed has a slight whine while its cold. But only for 1st and 2nd gear. It seems to go away once its warmed up.

There is another whine while accelerating but that is just my wallet complaining :chair:

The lower gears use a planetary gears set and they do tend to whine. That's why it's only heard usually in reverse and lower forward gears.

The HP70 torque converter needs a few seconds to fill with ATF. Says it in the manual. Will go away after warmed somewhat.

I thought mine had a whine during acceleration, but discovered that it was my wallet.
Now I just turn up the radio.
