I have a 2 piece front bumper, and i'm curious if the sport bumper (1 piece) is an exact fit on my Tradesman. if not, how hard is it to get to fit correctly? couldn't find any pictures or methods. thanks.

If I recall from previous discussions, there are support brackets that are required as well.

I think if you have the chrome SLT bumper the brackets are already there because of the weight of the chrome bumper.

I am looking to do this as well and found a Sport bumper and the AirDam for about $250 shipped. If I don’t need brackets I’m pulling the trigger :)

The air dam is the plastic piece that attaches at the bottom of the bumper.

Partstrain.com has the bumper cover and the bottom piece very cheap.

I have done my homework on this for my 17 Ram Tradesman. Here are the parts needed and a link to where I found the best prices. Also keep in mind that these are all factory Mopar parts not the cheaper aftermarket.

#1 68197698AA BUMPER COVER W/O SENSORS $256.15
#6 68104942AD CENTER SUPPORT $30.71
#9 68196999AB IMPACT BAR $270.32
#10 68145441AC ENERGY ABSORBER $144.10
#13 68207015AA CLOSURE PANEL $21.97

This does not included the necessary hardware to complete the install. Fog lights from the two piece bumper with work ok with the new one piece bumper.

Good luck with your bumper upgrade!

thank you SO much. it was a huge pain in the ass looking for this information. would i be able to take the impact bar, energy absorber, closure panel, and center support from another truck? (maybe one that got totaled in the back?)

Why not, as long as its not damaged. Just try to find a same year truck or one with the same front end.

There is indeed a LOT of parts associated with the "sport" bumper.

I smacked a deer a few days ago with mine. Cracked the hell out of part#1.

Don't forget to factor in paint which is crazy expensive.

Just go with a paintable lower section of your current bumper. Sport bumper isn’t worth the hassle for the end result IMO

Here’s a painted lower section example just to throw it out there.

I like it better aesthetically than the sport plastic setup and it’s a lot less work (and less $$$) than converting bumpers.

I think you can buy the paintable lower section for just a couple hundred, then paint and bolt it on..

See I though the chrome front two piece already had all those supports and pieces because of how heavy it is.

I was going sport for weight savings and then adding the led bar in the lower section.

If I have to add a bunch of extra pieces then yeah it’s not worth it.

Also can someone with a sport front bumper get a shot of how it looks underneath with the crash bar connected then the big plastic piece the bumper connects to please. I want to have enough pics to do it right and quick and I will try to video me doing it as well so other can see what needs to be done.

There is a write up on the forum somewhere.

Does anyone know the exact extra bolts or push pins needed?

I have all the big pieces and brackets to do this. Just need to know if I can reuse all my bolts or if I need to buy more?
