I went the other way on my old 13 regular cab, replaced the solid rear window with a slider.
as much as i do enjoy the open sliding window im tired of dealing with the water leak from the cracked frame. The window was replaced 3 years ago and it needs it again now. I hate the fact I paid for the slider when I bought the truck but I'm sick of the water leaks

I replaced the solid window with an aftermarket slider, but that was going on 12 years ago now.The regular cabs use a manual slider. I've never heard of anybody really having any leak issues with the manual sliders,it seems to be more of an issue with the power sliding windows then anything.Wonder if a manual slider would fix your issues

My 2007 Quad Cab 1500 came with the factory tinted slider. I didn't see a real need for a slider on a quad cab truck & felt it was easy to break into the truck thru the window. I had the slider replaced with a dark tinted solid glass window. I am very happy with my choice.IMG_0817_LI.jpg

Since we don't get a lot of rain in CA, it took me a couple years to track the leaking down in my '94 slide unit.
Siliconing the window and the third brake light fixed it.
My '04 came with a solid window but I changed it to a slider and it leaked.
Poor rubber seal on the replacement so again I got some sealant and no more leaks.
The weird thing is the sealant I used still isn't set after 3 years.
When it gets hot it leaches and runs down the window.
PITA to clean off.

I replaced my leaky rear power slider a few years ago with a solid tinted glass. Fixed the problem. One thing I would do different is have an electric defroster in the solid glass. We have a switch on the dashboard for a rear defroster, so I assume there is power to the window for those of us whose rear slider came without a defroster. While not used often, having one would be nice when it fogs up due to humidity.

About the only time I use the slider is it handy if you need a length or 4 of 14ft door trim, or base board, towel on the dash and trim thru the window and tie strap at end gate.
I have never seen any leaks on mine.

Or with a passenger after a chilli-eating fest.

It's dripping down the glass but yes I'm aware of those too
The issue has been resolved on the replacement sliding glass window assemblies, at least for sure on an OEM replacement. I'm guessing the aftermarkets are good, too.

Be advised that replacement has its own potentials for dissatisfactions. Mine was replaced and although the window frame was not or hasn't cracked in six years, the installers failed to ensure proper adhesive sealing. I fixed it my self by running a bead of silicone sealant across the outside top of the window frame. No leaks.

If you take my suggestion, make sure you do it in warm weather or heated environment.

Dusty
