Hey all.

So I have a 2018 5.7 Laramie down in Australia and I’ve just been quoted $120 each for new spark plugs plus labour, and apparently there are 16 of them.

Is there any other comparable plugs? Seems a lot of money for spark plugs.

Cheers
J

Advanced Auto sells Autolight Iridium Plugs for your Ram for $8.89 each so I think they are funning you on that price and yes there are 16 of them.. Have a great summer down under... and they are great replacement plugs for your Ram

Congrats, it is hard to surprise me anymore with the garbage we see around here, like $1200 transmission fluid swaps, but you did it, lol.

120 x 16 = 1920 plus labor for a spark plug change? Are you sure they didnt mean 120 for all the plugs plus labor? In the states, I think the going rate for hemi plug swap is 4-5 hundred all in.

You might want to pick one cylinder with easy access, and just pull them and see the condition, pull both plugs on that cylinder and see if there is notable corrosion on either pug. I would at a minimum check if it is needed before spending any kind of money you are suggesting. You have the updated plugs, so they are the longest lasting plugs around.

Aren’t those iridium plugs supposedly good for 100,000mls?
Thought I read/heard that somewhere on here
Yes, 100k miles for the plugs.

NGK 92145 is the OE replacement for these, IIRC

When I changed them in my '15 at 106k miles, the originals were worn very little.

When I checked with the dealer for plugs for my '15, they quoted me $24 plus change each, so would've been out almost $400 just for plugs.

I got 16 of the NGK 92145 from RockAuto for right around $100 plus shipping.

Also bought the GearWrench 80546 magnetic spark plug swivel socket from amazon for $15, and it was worth it's weight in gold.

Took me about 2 - 3 hrs. and a couple beers and I saved $300 on the cost of plugs and at least 2 hrs. of labor.

So I tried to order these from one of our suppliers over here who states "They will not fit a 2018 Laramie"

Can you confirm that they will 100% fit?

I am also running the NGK plugs. Have you tried Rockauto? Not sure if they deliver to you in Australia?

If RockAuto will ship overseas, go for it!

Even with the exchange rate, the NGK 92145 will still be around $9 each, and I can't imagine that overseas shipping will run you more than $100.

You have nothing to lose by checking it out.

Don't forget that GearWrench 80546 tool from amazon, worth it's weight in gold.

Btw, here's a thread about original plugs at 200k+ miles, they look surprisingly great even at that high mileage.

Best of luck to you with getting a good deal on the parts you need, and getting the job done.
