Figure I might just replace the wire to my door speakers. Have not figured out what up with the rear fade crackle issue. Whats a good quality wire and how much to run it to all the doors and maybe at some point the dash speakers? Any suggestions on running the wires? Im sure its going to be a huge PITA.

Side Q: Installed the front polk db series 6x9 speakers in the front door yesterday and the tweeters in the center push a little against the OEM speaker grill(door panel). Is this something to worry about and/or fix?

Thanks

Reece

damn. but thanks King, yet again my audio guy. So I either need to cut the door panel or the speaker hole to fit....hmmmmm. Im worried about the power window parts messing with the speaker if its sunk too much farther in. Not sure what way to go.
but no suggestions on wire eh?
freakin tweeters sit sooooo far out
new v old

I didnt realize your tweeters had grilles over them. in that case its not really a big deal if they touch the door panels. you could possible heat the door panel grilles with a hair dryer or heat gun and massage them out just a hair for clearance. as far as the speaker wire, id probably just buy a 100ft spool of a decent 16ga. you will have to pass the new wires through the molex plugs in the doors. it isnt fun, but its not really too bad either. i have 2 runs of wire into each of my front doors. If i remember correctly there are gaps at each corner of the molex plugs that are JUST big enough to slip 16ga through. might need to lubricate the wires. try Amp Installation Kits, HDMI Cables for decent wire that wont kill the budget

mine make my OEM grills poke out a little, but the sound is worth it.

Get a piece of 1/4 hardboard and make an adapter. that way you dont have to drill holes in the metal.

I got a set for my new speaker size but its for the early genIII ram front doors. So I figure I can just drill them up for the right fit. :) hope it goes well. First thing first is to run the new speaker wire to the doors.

Thanks again King!
