I installed the 93 custom tune from HF last night after filling up with 93 octane. I was playing around some this morning and at WOT it sounds like the belt is squeaking when shifting into second. It doesn't do it in normal driving conditions. Also, the truck won't shift into overdrive. My RPMS at 45 mph around about 1,600 instead of about 1,200. Any ideas? Is it this tune? Is this normal for this tune?

There's even a weird backfire now when shifting.

Finally, you got the tune in. lol. My Jeep made that sqweek noise after I install a shift kit with really hard shifts. Also, cops cars with shift kits tend to make that sqweek.

Dont know why it doesnt go into 6th but 45 mph seems slow for OD. Could just be holding gears longer. I dont have a 93 tune so cant say for sure. Does it go into 6th at 100 mph?? You could just ask Sean he should be back by now.

It could be the tune doing like you said and holding gears longer. It shifts into 6th at 50. I just wasn't ready for it because the stock tune would shift into 6th at like 40 mph. Glad to hear the squeak is expected. I'll do some logging today and send it to Sean tonight.

I never experienced the belt noise but the going into od later is normal. Most people don't like the truck surging around town so they have Sean hold the gears to help keep it from going to od to early. I only use od when on the interstate or above 55 mph. I would dig into that belt noise

I'm not sure it's the belt or not. But it sounds like it. I'm curious to see if anyone that loaded the HF 93 tune saw this as well.

I haven't installed the HF tune but I had the 93 Diablo tune and didn't experience that. I did have it on an F150 a few years ago tho and that did a squeak just at the end of first when shifting into 2nd. Not long, just about 1 second. Never figured it out. But I haven't noticed it on this truck, but like I said, I don't have the HF tune.

Hi Volsram,

That squeak is a chevy mating call. Your truck is trying to call em in so it can whoop up on 'em. :)

I seriously think there's an issue with my truck or the tuner. My 0-60 time with the 93 HF tune is the same as my 0-60 time with the 89 HF tune. And to top it off, both are slower than the canned tune. I don't know what's going on.

Bringing this back from the dead. I am getting the squeak at WOT shift too. Its when the TQ locks up and it drops a gear, that transition squeaks and sounds just like a belt squeaking. If you hammer down right before the gear drops you can hear it, I have even back off right before it dropped the gear and its pretty loud. Are you sure this is normal? Sounds like a lot of stress on the trany. Can some one shed some light on whats happening or if this is going to cause any issues later down the road?

Also, where the hell has Vols been???

Hey man, sorry I haven't been on in a while. I've been so caught up with things I haven't had a chance to think of upgrades for the truck and what's hot right now. I would also like to hear what people think of this.

Don't know if this helps anyone but I had my truck tuned by white lightning. It was amazing at first but then it started shifting really hard and I'd get a bit of clunk when I let off the gas.
I read about these custom tunes roasting transmissions, so I ended up going to the canned ds 87 peformance tune with MDS turned off and I use 89 octane. It runs real smooth, shifts nice and easy and no clunks..not AS responsive as the custom tune but still a lot better than stock.

I have the Hemifever 93 tune on mine. It stays on 4th up to 45mph then stays on 5th until 60-65mph when it shifts to 6th.

My truck feels like it stutters between gears sometimes, like if its guessing which one to get. Not sure if its just the nature of the 6 speed beast though.

Im gonna put mine back to stock because it doesn't feel fast anymore, maybe I got used to it.

Vols!! I thought something happened brother!

I been doing some research as it seems most people on this forum are only concerned about Intakes, catch cans, and 180* T-stats... alot of ppl say its the serpentine belt and others say its from the clutch plates in the trany slipping.. So i'm even more confused now. However the Jeep guys seem to experience this more than we do, and in short everyone that I have come across has just lived with it. so again.. back to the beginning again :roflsquared:

Under certain conditions i have a loud squeak on the 1-2 WOT shift but im sure its the belt because the lights dim at the same time. Only happens when its humid and/or cold.

Don't know if this helps at all. But i have the same sound. Only happens when i go from high rpm down to idle. ie: wot then shift then sound then rpm climb. I have no tuner no cai. Only lifted with 34's. From what i can tell its the belt. Happens more and longer when the belt is wet.
