Has anyone swapped in a SRT steering wheel with the paddle shifters? Curious to maybe try this. Wondering if everything would be plug and play.

Pretty sure it won't fit. Different mount, different plug, CAN bus won't recognize.

Alot of the Chrysler steering wheels are the same. The Ram wheel is no different than a chargers wheel at least at first glance. The wheels with the paddle shifters don't have the up/down buttons for the trans. I assume the paddles take there place. I'm curious to the connectors are the same. I am going to try and research this a little more. Members please chime in if you have some more solid knowledge. I think the SRT wheel would look sick in these trucks.

I use the manual +/- buttons and I agree, the paddle shifters would be easier to use. Good luck!

I had that wheel in my challenger. I like it a lot better than the ram wheel. I never used the paddle shifters though.

It's more for looks. The SRT wheel is a nice looking wheel.

I hate the trans buttons on the Ram. Paddles would be better but I doubt I would use them. Can't wait to see what you find out, great idea if the wheel is reasonable in price.

on the challenger at least the wheel and airbag was like a grand to do the swap if I remember right. I was thinking about doing in on my 11 SRT but ended up getting a 15 SRT that came with it.

paddle shifters function differently then the +/- on the shifter or steering wheel. thats what makes them pointless, aside from looks. its also a reason why this swap most likely isnt possible.

I thought about buying this today to try out, cheap enough that I wouldn't be upset if it wouldn't work. Ended up buying a leather 1500 wheel with audio controls.

How did he do that? Where is his shop?

He's out of Red Deer in Canada but as far as I know he needs the wheel in his possession to do the swap since he has to cut out for the paddles. I can get in touch with him if you're curious but you'd need to send your wheel to him if he was to do it.

I'll keep you in mind. I need to find a leather wheel first for the right price. Thanks.

That's my truck in the pic,the paddles are actually Mercedes AMG paddles.Everything on the wheel still works from audio controls right down to the stock shift buttons.I love them, haven't touched the buttons since the paddles went in:naughty::naughty:

do they function like true paddle shifters or are they just a different way to select gear range like the OEM buttons?

Paddle shifters are possible in the 8 speed equipped trucks but you can't swap the SRT steering wheel over, the internal wiring is different. A guy local to me does the swap and this is my friend's R/T:

ohhhh me likey! :favorites13:

They tie into the buttons Danny, you can't force an early full throttle upshift if that's what you mean. They're more precise on a full throttle upshift above the factories shift point of 5600,you pull the paddle once, not stab at the button several times, lol.
He will do a plug-n-play set-up for anybody who's interested, but you still need some skills to install the kit,as you have to remove the wheel and airbag to be able to install the back cover that holds the paddles themselves. You get a new back cover with paddles installed and a new modified front button assembly, then it's just a matter of remove and replace parts.
