Hello,

My 2014 RAM 1500 5.7 started giving me "Wrong Key Fob" messages and would not respond to turning the key for several tries. Then it was lots of tries, and finally, all the tries in the world wouldn't engage the starter.

It only said "Wrong Key Fob" occasionally during all those unsuccessful turns of the key. I've tried my backup key and changed the batteries in both.

Any ideas of what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Try another key if you have one if not replace that first key fobs and ignition switches are common to fail over time due to heavy keys and being made out of plastic.

Turns out, my ignition switch module died. Also, my primary key was dead and unreviveable. My mechanic told me that it was possible that the bad key killed the module (because it was saying "wrong key fob" before the total failure of the module), or that the module killed the key. They were able to program my second key to work with a used switch module. We had to get a used one because the modules are back-ordered everywhere in the U.S. until February. It seems lots of them must be failing.
