I have a 1980 D200 Power Wagon.
It starts up easily,?runs for a couple of minutes, then quits.
If I wait for a few minutes it starts right up for a very short time, then quits .
Any ideas?

Also, check the coil. If it heats up it will fail and then start working again after it cools down.

Wow so many things that boil down to just three things- Spark - Air - Fuel

LA or B Engine? (360 or 400) - Was the EBS (Electronic Burn System) Bypassed/converted? (One of the first things we did back in the day) Have you done a Vacuum leak test? when were the spark plug wires last changed? as mentioned the fuel filter, cracked distributer cap, EGR, is this a Thermoquad? or 2 Barrel? Clean it Lately?

*sigh* I don't miss those days even though I have a 78 Maggy T-Top and a 7 Barracuda Convertible

I miss the back yard modding that could be done on old carburetored engines that dont self adjust for the tiniest hiccup in its precise and over engineered engine management system

Widen a hole here, place a spacer there, adjust this or that and boom! Magic!

Of course there were a few learning curves and some bent rods but that was part of the fun!
