It was the one part of the system which had been previously replaced and it was unclear to me whether the one that was previously in the truck had the right connections. Oem switches, new oem clock spring, everyone else using this head unit says their steering wheel switches work but for some reason mine dont. The switches were not originally optioned on the truck.

You can try browsing thru this thread and see if there's anything in there that may help. From my initial browsing thru it, everyone says it should be pretty much plug and play.

Did you inspect the harness? It's very delicate. It runs around the outside edge of where the airbag sets if I remember right.

I've got some new JBL 6x9s arriving tomorrow for the back doors. I had installed the better EOM Alpine dash speakers but it pulled the sound stage too far forward because it doesn't seem that the rears have any treble at all. That, and an Alpine 445U amp. I'm pretty excited to see how this all turns out.

Alright that turned out great. I have a new issue though. I've tried all kinds of different cables and ran as many updates as I could find, but I cannot get the wired carplay connection to work. I need that because I run a starlink onboard and need to connect to that. The phone won't let you do both.
