2009 Ram 1500. This one is new to me. We got some snow today in the northeast, put the truck in 4x4 while driving the 4x4 light flashed a couple times then chimed and the ESP BAS light came on. Along with the traction control light.

Problem is the truck is stuck in 4x4. Turning the dial does nothing. Usually I can hear front dif actuator cycle and tcase motor engage. But now, nothing. I've checked the connectors on actuator and tcase, nothing broken. Chexked the fuse for axle locks, no issue. I've pulled the front bezel off the dash to check that the connector to the 4x4 selector switch didnt pop off, no issue.

Any ideas what to check? Would there be codes off that ESP BAS light?

Thank you!

Yea, it will have codes stored. That will give you a place to start looking.

Since it was you when you tried to put the truck in 4wd when the lights come on, there is a good chance it has something to do with one of the actuator motors or the associated wiring.

Picked up a good scanner and got the code U0102 lost communication with transfer case control module. Does anybody have any wiring diagrams for this? I had a link before from ram body builder but it only would open on old windows explorer which i no longer have. Thanks!

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and see if the problem has gone away.

In addition to the step mentioned above, Check the wiring and connectors to the module and the the TIPM.

Disconnect the plug connector and check for loose, broken or frayed wires and look at the pins in the connector and check for corrosion and/or water intrusion. If you live in the kind of place where they salt the roads alot, check really well for corrosion. Especially the connectors to/from the TIPM.

Assuming your truck is the same as a 2011 (i think it is), this might give you an idea of where to look:

This one might be good as well:
