Can somebody tell me the best way to remove the 5 pieces that hold the crankshaft against the block on the 5.7L? I have removed all the bolts but the pieces fit snug and I'm afraid of damaging the block. It looks like there is a space under the "shoulder" on each side to place a pry bar or is there some kind of puller?

Try getting a plastic dead blow hammer, or a brass hammer and giving them some taps all round.
Neither hammer will harm the block or mar the metal in any way.

Just a few taps of a plastic or rubber dead blow will break it lose.
