Sub box behind center console

i am looking at having a 10” dd 1500 installed and the stereo shop I have been using for years is suggesting putting the box behind the center console in a crew cab to get the space the sub needs. The other options are replacing the center console and having a box made to be the console or a cut out which is out of the question. Anyone ever have a setup like this before ?

$1050, that includes shipping. The enclosure is made from 1 1/8” MDF. The enclosure with sub weighs about 60lbs. It is padded and wrapped in the same leather RAM uses

theres a company out there that makes rear center console sub boxes, i have one(for ford though) i look to see the name. very well built, blends with the interior not like an afterthought looking box, even had cup holders built into it. hell i bet someone would get it to fit into a ram. i think i only paid like 250-300 for it (fits 10" sub). ill get pics up in a little while

Id buy that box from Eestee if i were you...you can always put a cheaper sub in it. That box will sound better than anything you buy online. I am running a similar 1.2cu/ft down-fire sealed box behind my center console and it is the nicest sub stage I have ever had in a truck....BY FAR! Eestee, what's the internal volume of your enclosure? Im sure that W7 is happy happy

I have to agree here. Quality looks great.. and that box from a shop is going to cost $600 probably.

Q-Logic is the name and they have some stuff for dodge rams...299 for a rear console unit

I had one, it held up very well for years and it had built in cup holders (shaken not stirred)!

It’s running at 1.35cu ft. Bass is subjective across a lot of listeners. Bass is not always what you can hear(audiophiles know what I’m talking about) notes that you didn’t even know existed in a track, it gives you goose bumps. Certain subs with the right enclosure and tuned properly will give you that feeling.

I get that feeling. Ive been caught off guard a few times listening to music

Went today to get the box built and ended up backing out when their plan was to make a tower behind my center console. At this point don’t know how to proceed with the build

What series DD sub are you wanting to install and what are the space requirements? A sealed box for a 10" should not be too large...unless the shop is suggesting ported which will automatically have larger dimensions

I was going to run a 1500 series And they were going to put it in a ported box. So if I go with a sealed box, the box should be shorter?
