Wow! I thought it was just me! My AC in my new 2021 Ram Regular cab sucks as soon as it cracks 90 degrees. Not so fun when it's over 100 and you have the vinyl interior. My old Ram would require a coat if you ran it on full AC well above 100 degrees. Glad to know it's not me. Will talk to the dealer about that TSB hopefully this week.
TSB does not apply to 2021's, the issue was allegedly fixed with the late model 2020's and on.

I have never heard about this issue in any generation, let alone 5th gen. The AC in my 2017 Ram 1500 SLT blows ice cold. It's Brilliant Black w/color matching canopy, diesel gray cloth interior. She gets hot in the sun! We're having the hottest summer ever here in Southern Alberta. Just did a camping trip where she towed a 2500lbs travel trailer and close to max on the payload. We're a family of four and we were comfortable the whole time. I am glad I now know about this issue. Really debating on moving up to a new 2500. Something to consider.

My $.02: My 2021 Ram 3500 A/C sucks at idle. When I start it up, I engage the high idle function (diesel) and the issue goes away. That tells my tiny brain that it's an air flow issue with the condenser. Regardless, it's leaps and bounds ahead of the A/C in the 2020 Chevy I had. It had the R1234yf refrigerant...It sucked.

I just bought a 1500 Limited 3.0 EcoDiesel- many things to love a few to question but one to hate- such an AVERAGE AC- not even close to my F150 that I traded in. My brother has the same truck 2021 brand new as me and my daughter has a "Salute to Service" 2019 model ALL have crappy average AC's. Maybe it's "Watered-down" Freon and I put the best ceramic tint on it. Texas summers win over these AC's. My 12 year old RAV 4 blows colder...

I've noticed it's not freezing cold, but my 2021 Laramie is iced down if I start it remotely 10 minutes before I get in the cab. It's only frustrating if the sun is beaming down on me through my windshield when the heat index is 113°. I have a bigger concern with the air blowing between 3 and 4. 3 is a little too soft blowing while 4 is a little too much.

I haven't checked the temperature at the vents yet but my 21 BTS seems to blow cold air just fine. I like the fresh air coming in so I'll have the A/C blasting with all the windows open as long as it's not raining. I'll see what the weather is going to be today and I will dig out the thermometer to check dash temps
The ac on my 2021 works great in 100+ degree weather.

Your regular cab is a DS (4th gen), and this wasn't an issue with 4th gens. You should probably take it in and have it checked out.

The AC issue is a known problem and has been an issue since the 5th gens came out. The TSB that was mentioned has had mixed results, and doesn't cover late 2020 and 2021 models. And since it requires removal of the dash, some people are opting for the clamp or valve on the heater hose solution. My 2021 blows colder than the AC in my Audi. Both have 20% ceramic tint on all windows except the windshield. I'm happy with mine, but I find it curious that so many people with 2021 models of the DT are still having issues with it. Just to clarify, we have been seeing temps in the upper 90's and lower 100's for the past month or so.

My gen 3 cummins needed a blend door repair and the 10 buck home depot cutoff. Gen 4 limited and 19 and 21 limited needed the max ac button push here in atl and all was fine. The gen 4 had a bad odor unless in recirulation.

I have a 2500 so we still get R134 refrigerant. My dealer just did the TSB for the 2019/2020 trucks and my AC is great now. I’ve always had to run it on max to stay somewhat comfortable and now it freezes you out with an outside temp in the mid 90s.

For what it’s worth my 2018 Subaru has the newer R1234 refrigerant and it will freeze you out of the car if it’s below 100. 110 it is still quite comfortable but obviously not as cold. I don’t buy that the new refrigerant is the issue in the 1500s. It’s an engineering issue.

4th gen FTW! Mine at 140k is still ice cold and doesn't take long to cool the truck off.

To be honest, my a/c has felt pretty much the same in all of the rams that I've had (2011/2013/2017/2021). Couple of variables, living in the north east it gets hot but not for nearly as long as other parts of the country, I use remote start in hot or cold weather for usually 5-10 minutes (sometimes longer in winter) and my oldest rams were regular cabs, my last 2 have been crew cabs. I've only had my 2021 for almost 2 months now and we've been in some temperatures in the mid to upper 90s a few times. Remote started for 10 minutes and got in and was comfortable (not super cold but cool) and was cool enough to turn the temperature back up after driving 5-10 minutes.

I was worried about that before buying this current ram, I had read plenty over the years about how bad the a/c was in the 5th gens. From what I can tell though it's not much different at all from my last 3, maybe they really did fix them by the 21's for the most part.

I know I was thinking the same thing about my 2013 as I was reading through this thread lol
I live in Texas so ac is king 90% of the time. No complaints here. It’s no R12 ac but it’s great even at 140k and almost 10 years old.

I agree, the old R12 systems were legitimately ICE cold. I had an 88 Trans Am years ago and that thing would literally freeze you out of the car. 134A is a close second, but still second.

Yeah I'm up north so we only get about 3 months of "hot" weather here, mostly in the 80s with high humidity. But I've had my truck down in Florida and even when towing my camper its still nice and cold in the Florida heat.

Agreed first car was a 90 mustang gt r12 car. Man it was freeze you out. I grew up with r12. Then we had to convert to r134a and it was great. Not as cold as r12, but did the trick. I miss the old refrigerant. It was all about the environment and yet it was truly a tactic to make people pay to stay cool. I remember in 06 having to on convert my 36k mile 93 mustang gt. I went to r134a and it was great. Just not 12. It’s a racket.

I noticed that also. My 2015 when it was low on freon just before I traded it was better.
