Swaping Gas Tanks

Hey my 86 d100 has a leak in the gas tank. I found an 89 d150 at a junk yard. Does anyone know if the gas tanks are swappable? Thanks

it should physically fit but it is a fuel injected tank with a completely different sending unit so you would need the connector that comes for the sending unit to make it work. the 88-90 sending units are extremely hard to find if you ever need to replace it. i think i have been told you can modify a 91-93 sending unit to work or you can build one to work for your truck.
