To anybody who has installed diode dynamics switchbacks in a set of projectors, there is a mini fuse tap in the kit i received but unfortunately the instructions do not list it nor is it listed in the kit contents. Does anybody know what this is for? Im not sure why this would be in here since all wires tap into factory light harness wires

I’ve done the kit before and it didn’t have a fuse tap, but, I would think it would be for the DRL circuit for trucks that don’t have DRLs enabled. You would tap into an ignition on fuse so the DRLs will be on whenever the truck is running.

Well that makes sense to me. My DRLs are enabled since i have a Canadian truck and it is the law here lol so i wont have to worry about it. I just couldnt find anything in the instructions so i thought id ask. Thanks for the input

I am in Canada and just did it. No fuse tap needed. Just make sure you get those t-tap connectors snug. I’ve had a small problem with them already that I Hope I fixed.

No problems finding the required wires? Where did you mount the drivers? Thanks

The DD website has the wire colour codes and PIN numbers for each side which is clearly labelled on the harness plug. There are a couple of wires that look the same to me so going by the number was easiest.

I didn’t mount the drivers, I just stuffed them in there with my hid ballasts and drivers. By the time you add the extra wiring, the driver, and for me the HID components, it’s a bit of a mess back there and you’re just happy if you can get the lights back in!

Sorry, I thought I was trying to answer your question about the wires. Anyway, I recommend not installing these. I have the other side not working now. That’s both sides in one week. It’s embarrassing having 2 different coloured lights

Its all good. You recommend not installing the switchbacks? What keeps happening to yours for them to fail?

I have had a dash warning on each side at different times saying bulb out and get a hyperflashing sound. One DRL is stuck on amber and the other one is working, but the other day the role was reversed.
I’m just frustrated spending a lot of money getting my OEM lights made less reliable but “cool looking” half the time. Now they look goofy the other half of the time.

I’ll second this recommendation. Mine had similar behavior and ate through drivers that DD kept sending me.

What is the cause of this issue that is happening? Is it bad DD drivers or just faulty design on DD side of things?

I’m not sure. I tried error cancellers, resistors, the whole works. Problem was, once a driver gave up, it was dead, so I couldn’t pinpoint anything until the next set came in, and seemed to work for a while... until they didn’t. I just gave up on them.
