Here's pics of the spin on and sump filter when I changed mine on my 65RFE 6 Speed Xsmn .
The spin on is right beside the dip stick & guide tube , hope this helps [emoji1303][emoji1303]6f3eaf46a349f8a06a496de97c75eba8.jpg8200b489cc7d21c194a47dc2bca24a0f.jpgc4d55d0200ea10eb9ec668f534726de1.jpg2778110ebb9237847f78bc0f41ecf692.jpg

Yes , I used the OEM sump and pressure spin on filter when I did mine a while back .

The guys here have figured out a much better filter option for the spin on filter , it's a 100% synthetic media filter as opposed to the OEM paper filter .
Ask the guys here about that .
As far as the sump filter goes the OEM one is a great filter imo [emoji1303]

Been having lifter tick the last few months in my 17 Sport with 25k on it. All highway miles and easy cruising. Been running Mobile 1/Pennsoil Full Synthetic 5w-20 since day 1. Oil changes every 6-7k miles. Just ordered Redline 5w-30 and Royal Purple 10-48 filter (pricey for some lube, KY is wayyyy cheaper). Will post updates over the next few weeks to see what changes.

You may know this but just incase you dont. You may experience no changes until you approach 1000 miles on the oil. Sometimes less sometimes more.

You may even get MORE noise at first because the Ester and PAO are going to fight to bond for the metal surface. This may wipe clean you mating surfaces of anti-wear additives until they plate with the copious amounts of Moly that redline provides.

Keep is posted sir.

Yes sir. Have been doing some reading and figured it would take between 500-1000 miles, I drive 50 miles a day for work so it shouldn't be too long hopefully.

Its seem the Canadians have an “on the shelf” source fir redline but in the stats is basically unherd of.

Best place to buy is from a member here. Nick@gotexhaust. PM him. He can get it for an excellent price.

I'd use Nick, he is the cheapest. Redline.com has a dealer locator feature and you can double check it. I got money says nick will be cheaper, research the local price and look at nicks prices. He is two bucks per qrt cheaper then redline backyard. Most of us who use redline use 5w30, it is a very special oil.

Is there any reason why you run 5w30 just curious. I know the cap recommends 5w20. Is 5w30 better for this engine

5W20 is really too thin especially after it warms up. Part of the thinking is that the cam/lifter problems could in part be caused by the lower oil pressure at idle of 5W20. The only reason the factory uses 5W20 is to help meet their fuel economy targets although its probably only maybe .1 more MPGs better with the thinner oil. If you have HEMI tick at startup I would switch to a 5W30 at a minimum and see if that helps. Of course Redline 5W30 is the ultimate in making your engine quiet and granted its expensive but some of these guys go 10K plus miles between oil changes on this stuff. There's no way in hell I would ever go that long on any so called "synthetic" that wasn't Redline but hey that's just me.

Ram didnt choose 5w20, the gov't did. In the non mds hemi fca choose a 40 weight, but because of fuel economy standards they couldn't with the 5,7. So considering fca went to a 40 weight when they got to choose the oil, tells me even 30 weight might be too thin. To answer your question why I di it, I believe it gives a tad more metal protection. The the real world psi determines lubrication because the oil pump equalizes different oil weights, but the fact is we do see a 2 psi increase with 30 weight. And long uoa's have been stellar.
