I have yet to see 5w20 have the same noack as 5w30 when you are taking about 6 and lower noacks. If I was interested or concerned I would investigate farther, but since redline has proven itself past the stat sheets to be honest just useless numbers at this point. next time I email Dave I will ask

Breaking News, Redline High Performance line NOACKS have dropped lower, now 5w30 noack 4 pdf. 5w20 redline now has a noack of 4 as well, I have a hard time believing this because the hths is the same as before. I wonder if they were this low all along to be honest. Website still has old noacks, not sure it really matters for our purposes.
Pour points have also changed... 0w20 is -53 0w30 is -54 they both used to be -76. 5w20 and 5w30 are the same however at -49. Also 0w16 i dont recall them making that before. Now the lowesr pour point is their 0w40 at -76. I believe they reformulated as the api service class is sp/sn+ correct me if im wrong i believe it used to be just sn correct? Even if its not api certified maybe they are trying to formulate with an sp style add pack (less zinc, phosphorus, and calcium with more magnesium) we know they have been making small changes over the years with lower moly (~600-~400)

EDIT i looked a little more and saw the 0 wt oils are sp/sn+ and 5w20 and 5w30 are still sn

what else should I ask, I have not sent it yet, Ill send it in 30 minutes? anyone have another question for dave?

Dave I had a question, is redline's formula changing? There is a catalog out that shows noacks dropped, cst on 0w30 is different, and some formulas that are sn+ and SP. The reason I ask is because many people are nervous as this current formula has alleviated ticking conditions in a lot of hemis. Will Moly levels and ester/pao mix stay the same on 5w30, 0w30, and 5w20?

To me it looks like an improvement:

The Professional Series is just Kendall lubes. They aren't bad, but not worth the price premium, I'd rather pay for the HP series of oils.

@Hemi395 thank you for the explanation, looks like it came from the factory that way. I would give Red Line 0W-40 or Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 a try in the cold. More like Red Line 0W-40 because it has like 11%~12% VI, so it will act as a cushion when that piston starts going crazy inside the bore. Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 has like 8.5% VI, and 0W-20 oils have almost no VI at all, even those made by other manufacturers. Because that oil is so thin and is already subjected to heat and fuel dilution, no manufacturer wants to be liable if it damages your engine, so everyone is trying to use good base stocks for 0W-20. Sadly, that doesn't help you. Red Line 5W-30 has like 4%~5% of VI, so it doesn't help in the cold.

Something funny I found on YouTube, watch these two videos, lol:

That actually confirms my suspision; my truck "tugs" more when going in/out of MDS with RL 5w-30 than it did with RL 5w-20. Probably due to the thicker viscosity, but since I disable MDS all the time anyway I couldn't care less.
