Interesting video on the 4th gen heater core and why they plug up. I've noticed its more common on the Cummins trucks than the Hemi trucks and the EGR cooler may be why. Plus most people don't change their coolant unless they need to open the cooling system.

The 6.4 truck Hemi runs hot as well, the stock tstat is like something like 212* I believe and running that hot all the time is probably breaking down the coolant quicker.

Seeing as there's no reliable 180* tstats for the 5.7 that also have the plunger on the bottom to close off the recirc passage anymore, I think I'm going to do yearly rad drain/fills along with a heater core flush every other year after seeing this. I do NOT want to take my 12 year old plastic dash apart if I don't have to and it's so easy to do a drain/fill on these trucks.
If his theory about the EGR breaking down the anti-freeze is on the money,i think i'd seriously be looking at deleting the EGR on my Cummins or 6.4 truck. 1 heater core replacement, would pay for the unlocked PCM and tune on a 6.4 truck ;)

this video made me get on that RMI 25 order from eBay, two 32 ounces can do both vehicles this year and save the other one with seal for 2 years. I don't doubt for a minute RMI 25 can stop this as long as the core is still flowing.

How often should you(someone)use this?
It's a leave in product, so in theory every flush or drain and fill add with fresh coolant. I prefer 16 ounce per application, so I do the rav 4 and hemi with 32 ounces. It doesn't age well once opened. I used it for first ten years in both vehicles no issues, I stopped for maybe the last 5 years no reason, til Corey got me all afraid and stuff. The other idea is to put it in before you drain and fill radiator for 500 miles. Seeing how things the heater core channels are is scary? I wonder if that is the same core in all 4 gens. If I can avoid a heater core replacement, well worth it.

The other question should be when do you start using it. I cant say I prefer it in first 5 years new, but what we are seeing now is trucks 6-7 years old with no heat, so maybe earlier is better, dunno really.

In the next 5 or 6 years, we'll likely see the 2021 and newer engines have more lifter failure. I'll stick with PUP 5w30 and wix xp.

So I can find nothing on servicing my rav 4 front diff, so I put in a tricky call to oil stop all I really wanted was capacity. He told me 99 for service, but 15 bucks for a supplement, not an additive. I suppose I can see what is in lubegard, as they have one. I know it isn't moly, or should not be moly. Who knows what gear supplements are? lubegards is for manual transmission, but oil stop was trying to put this in an automatic differential. anyone any dope on these?

Automatic differential?

90 deg gear boxes with spiral bevel or hypoid bevel gears need GL-5. Straight bevel can use GL-4 (no EP). Then only difference is with or without limited slip clutch packs, that's the only additive I'm aware of. A number of places sell that.

state of CA says they cant start cleaning up and even the feds cant start cleaning up until the right federal agency comes get all the burnt up teslas, lol. The comes right after the Tesla truck is being impounded in the UK because "it's not legal", lol. Get this, there are 430,000 teslas in the la area, making wild fire clean ups near impossible with state regs.

Um, don't you think you should bother to tell these poor people who lost everything what IS the correct agency to come clean up their fried teslas? Is it because they don't know? If you own a Tesla, considering parking it on the street, maybe after a wildfire you will have a chance to rebuild? Electric ram anyone? Hybrids as well if they have lithuim batteries and they do, lol.

Park on your own property at your own peril.

you simply could not make this stuff up if you tried?

Isn't the front diff on those part of the transmission?

That would mean it couldn't take a GL-5 EP gear oil - it would eat the transmission synchronizers, any non-ferrous metals.

Akin to a hydrostatic transmission that has both gears and hydraulics. GL-4 gear oil only.

Yup - and those are usually straight cut bevel gears, that don't have sliding contact motion like spiral bevel and hypoid gears do so don't need EP GL-5 additive package. SCP Sulfur-Chlorine-Phosphorous.

This might be a really stupid question, but we keep talking about Redline and a number of other oil brands out there, but what about Mopar MaxPro 5w30?
Has anyone run this oil? How does it compare to oils like Havoline ProDS 5w30 and Mobil 1 FS 0w40?

I would assume based on what we have seen in the past that it is some kind of SOPUS product: Shell, Pennzoil, etc.

But knowing Stellantis and their cost cutting obsession, it really could be anything that they were offered the lowest bid on...
