They discovered walking trees a few years ago, a breed of palm tree walks to sunshine, so I am pretty sure the tree wasnt growing through the engine block but rather you discovered the first tree mechanic. I doubt he is any worse then oem.

I ran the Valvoline 0w20 AFS and it was good for about 1200 miles then started to tick. But mine is super picky about oil...
Now that's what I noticed with PUP. I would barely reach 2000 miles on fresh oil when I would get a couple of seconds of lifter tick on initial startup for a couple/few seconds. Switching to 5W30 gave me a few hundred miles more before the startup tick, but mixing with RedLine 5W30 got me to a 3000 mile mark and that is now my OCI of choice.

Oh fellas I tell you now I heard everything??? Current EV Credit Structure. Oh man this is rich, so if you get a refund every year the credit for you is wait for it... ZERO. The problem with those tax cuts that doubled everyone's personal exemption, just erased any chance anyone could claim this tax credit. Do you know who can claim it? Companies who lease them can write off the lease and get the tax credit, sheesh? If you need another reason not to buy one, there ya go. I wonder how many darwins bought an EV thinking they were gonna get 7500 smokes, lmao.

How Do EV Tax Credits Work?

EV tax credits are available to individuals and businesses buying new or used vehicles with a battery propulsion system that can draw power from an external power source. The credit reduces a filer's federal income tax by up to $7500. For instance, if you bought an EV eligible for a $7500 tax credit and your total federal taxes for the year came to $8500, then you would owe just $1000 to the government.

EV tax credits are nonrefundable. This means they can only be applied to tax owed in the year a vehicle was purchased. If you owe a lesser amount of taxes than the credit, then your credit is reduced to that lesser amount. The tax credits currently end on December 31, 2032.

It’s the same as the state government giving you back money on your solar voltaic system if it was over a set standard of watts, the only problem was the licensed installers and electricians qualified were all hired by the corporations and industries and there was a limited amount of money available… after the dust settled and the money ran out the states offered tax credits but by that time comparatively
it was practically pennies on the dollar… not surprised they did the same scam .

I’m using relatively cheap Castrol EDGE platinum 0/20 made from natural gas with a K&N pro silver oil filter

So far, after my engine rebuild, the only time I heard a tick was with Mobil 1 FS 0w40 at the initial start right after changing the oil. Every start after that was smooth.
With the current Liquimoly Molygen 5w30 and LM Hydraulic Lifter Fluid, no ticking at all.
In both cases, I have changed the oil at 3000 - 4000 miles.

According to this video, Valvoline helped him get rid of the tick.
Well.. he did specify that pretty much any 5W30 oil would have helped him get rid of the tick.

We're getting lost in the various "ticks". The dude in that video is talking about hydraulic lifter bleed down. Every hemi will do that under the right conditions, mine does it "on demand" regardless of oil (Redline 0w-30, 5w-20, 5w-30, Mobile 1 FS 0w-40, and HPL PP PCMO 0w-30, PCMO 5w-20). Yep, all those oils and weights I've used and my hemi tick if I start it up cold, drive for 5 minutes (temps don't reach > 50 c), shut it down, come back 1.5 hours later and boom the next start I get the tick. This tick is a 2 second tick (it stops ticking light a lightswitch turned off), and it's harmless though annoying.

The real hemi tick is the one where it ticks on a hot idle. That guy in the video did not have the lifter failure tick like you did.

This is the problem, at least 4 difference noises are called "hemi tick", the other 2 being leaky manifolds and noisy injectors.

I don't know why you don't order this stuff (Redline) months before you need it.

I run Mobil 1 FS 0W40 in the summer and have had no lifter tick through a 3000 mile OCI.

Awesome, thank you! I've been trying to get my wife to hit the off button every time she drives it. I'm sure you can imagine how many times she actually did it:rolleyes:
My wifes the same. She called me the other day to ask why there was a button on the dash with an "A" on it lit up.

I laughed. I told her it was the Auto Stop/Start showing it was turned off and we have talked about this, several times.

Alrighty, All.
I just got a call from Jim Chancey who is the Red Line Product Director, and directly responsible for working one-to-one with the lab on all product development, etc.

Apparently, and according to Jim, all the oil sample reports and batch numbers from our Red Line bottles has had them in a deep dive with their lab and suppliers for all their products, including, you guessed it, transportation containers, too.

Jim told me that when manufacturing one of the esters used in their oil that a tin catalyst is used in the process, and (I'm no lab guy and he was getting very deep on the specifics) this is why we have this new reading.

I asked him if this is a new process for them, or using different products and/or suppliers and he was a little silent.

So, there we have it all.
He indicated that we don't need to be worried about this, and they are working to bring this tin level down.

If there is one of the Brain-Trust here that is much smarter than I on the oil specifics would like to touch base with Jim, I asked for his cell and asked if he would mind if someone with more knowledge from our Forum could call him to discuss in deeper detail, and he said it was okay.

I hope this helps to shed some light on the recent tin readings we've been seeing.
