Tailgate latches

Hey Guys,
Just purchased 2022 Big Horn Night Edition Quad with 6'4" bed. Had XLINE spray in bedliner installed and it came out great. Then I purchased an AMP bed extender and assembled it. Put up the templates and started drilling the holes. WOW, this spray-in is like steel; what a bear to drill through ( probably should have used a masonry bit).
Anyway, got the extender installed and here's the issue: the hold down clip just will not lock into the side tailgate latches. There's plenty of slack on the strap so that's not the problem. The latches themselves seem to be a very different design from my Rams of the past.
Anyone here experienced this issue ?? Any suggestions ?

Do you have the MFT? The latches on those are different from the non MFT tailgates.

Sorry for the late reply, Mike. We do not have the MTF tailgate. Since it's so infrequent that we'll have the tailgate down and use the extender, instead of struggling with trying to get the hold down clip into the latches, we decided to use a couple of bungee cords.
Just strange why the clip wont go into the latch without a fight !!
