TAILGATE LIGHT BAR AND BACK UP CAMERA

I just purchased a 2018 Ram 1500 and want to install a tailgate light bar (BLADE-LED TAILGATE LIGHT BAR - PUTCO #PUT92009-60). I know about the access to the spare tire issue however the auto shop will install it just above that access hole. My concern is that this is a very bright light and I would like some input about the brightness of the tailgate light bar and if it will wash out the video from the back up camera making the rear camera when backing up useless

Don't know about Putco but I have an opt-7 tailgate bar and love it. Mine makes things more visible in the camera. Really bright from behind but helps not hinders seeing through camera

Great to hear. Is there a delay between the truck's original lights and the tail gate light bar when you activate the signal lights or brake

Mine makes it easier to see with the camera, at night. One tip: place some clear silicone on the ends of your light bar. will make it last longer. Specially where the wires go into it.

I just installed the Opt-7 60 inch tailgate light bar. In reverse (with the help of my new LED reverse bulbs), the light output is well appreciated from the driver's seat. I can now see 50 feet behind me when backing up. With the halogen reverse bulbs and without the light bar, the visual field ended at maybe 10 feet. There is no washout in the camera. One of the best mods to date. In fact, I was driving tonight and someone complimented me on the light bar when I parked and got out of the truck.

First, buy the new Putco switchblade, it mounts with clips so you can pop it off to get access to spare tire. Second it makes backing up so much more visible. I really like mine.I wll post a pic in reverse at night when I get a chance.(Got mine from Nick@GotExhaust , fast shipping, great to deal with!)

I have one on my Power Wagon. I was able to mount it a little high so it doesnt block the spare tire access hole. Just make sure to use the backing pieces provided so it stands off a bit. It does not interfere with my back up camera either. if anything it helps night time visibility.

Ya Merf, I love my Opt-7!!! Led in taillights and adding the bar was a VERY smart mod IMO!! I CAN SEE!!
Oem lights sure are crap

Havent heard of a tailgate bar for just reverse only. Maybe do like others here have done and instal led pods at rear?

Or get one and wire reverse wiring only. They are pretty hidden so most people dont no its there till it lights up

Dont cameras have night mode? Just curious because I do not have one.

Is there a coupling available so you do not have to use the trailer light plug in ? Or is splicing it in the only way ??? Thanks
