Tailgate making a popping noise

I have a 2010 1500 and randomly when I open or close my tailgate (not always) it makes a loud popping noise like something is bound up in the tailgate. Anyone have any idea what this is?

I had the same issue with my 17 Ram R/T. Took it in and the tech adjusted something on the tailgate and it was perfect after that. 30 minutes at most.
