Tailgate Opened driving down the road 2020

Driving to work this morning my tailgate opened up on its own. Anyone had this issue?

2020 1500 lone star with new body.

I know the old bodies were recalled. But I don’t see one for the new body

There was a recall on the tailgate actuator for Gen4's. Mine would drop randomly during a right turn.

Tailgate drops and your cargo falls out impaling the driver behind you would be my guess.

if it was a car door opening itd be an issue...why not something that's supposed to be secured cargo in the bed?

Gm tailgaters get locked shut and you need a trick to get them open l!

Are you sure you closed the tailgate completely? Does your truck have the tailgate ajar warning? My impression was that all 5th gens have that, but I don't know that for a fact.

Mine has a button on the remote and overhead console

There is a recall they install a little I shaped block in the solenoid actuator in the lock mechanism under the 12 bolt plate.

Happened three more times. Guess I’ll be taking it in on Monday.

I have a friend who recently purchased a 2020 Ram 1500 Longhorn. She had to return it becuase of the same issue. The bed on the truck was actually a defect to to it being in a V shape causing the tailgate not to close properly. $63k she wasn't happy.

That tells me that FCA is sending their trucks out the door with the same problem since Gen 3. Speaks VOLUMES about FCA and their attitude toward their customers.

No recall on the 5th gen. They had to adjust the tailgate latch.

This just happened on my 2021 Limited. Parked my truck, no "tailgate ajar light" on or any other light. Got out of the truck and locked it using the door handle button. Later in the afternoon it was still closed but in the morning it was down. It is an MFT. When I first got truck and opened it either normal all the way down or side opening I had to really slam it to get it to catch and stay closed so I always close it hard and then pull on it and make darn sure its latched.

Probably just a latch adjustment. I'll schedule a visit soon.
