tech problem

hi, im new on this forum so hope to find some help.
i know nothing about mechanics or stuff and im just looking for some help. my dad has a Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 heavy duty, year 2007 (sorry if i write it wrong, i know nothing from cars). the car is automatic, well he says, when he tries to make shifts either reverse or D, or whatever the car walks alone, without pressing the accelator... after he changes the shift to parking or another one the car goes to 1500 RPM and then to 800... so anyone knows what can he do, or if its another place on internet where i can get some assitance? thank you very much

yeah he says, like when he makes the shift as i explain the car moves alone without pushing the accelerator pedal... (is not hunted lol)

Since the motor is running and he has shifted it into gear, without the brake being applied all vehicles will begin to move.

seems OK since its in gear and the brake is not pressed. Now if it walks while in Park or the brakes are pressed while in gear then there is some concern.

Yep more info is needed. The trucks do idle up when changed from park to rev or from n to drive but a stock truck shouldnt try running through the brakes like were reading.
