Temp gauge where does too hot start?

Where the gauge reads isn't as important as what the actual temp is which is easily to look at on the dash display. My gauge always shows around half way once it warms up. If the actual temp gets too high you will get a warning light advising you of that.

Thanks - I was asking because I've towed a RV before and there were a couple of time with my 2000 Dakota I had to turn on the heat, open the windows in the summer in the southwest to keep the engine from getting too hot.
