I bought my 1500 in April. At first I had flooding in my truck due to a leak with less than 100 miles on it. That was fixed with me calling customer service. Since then I have had more problems that encompass the radio, GPS, and my interior light malfunctioning. Starting on 5/12/18 and still going on today, we kept informing them of messages that come up on the radio of (no antenna connection). Radio will automatically mute itself. it states on gps we are 100's of miles from were we actually are. Every time we take it to the dealership we would have video of what it was doing. There claim was that since they cannot duplicate it, there was nothing wrong with the radio. We are NOW on our 5th time for the same repair. We have informed the state of Florida under "The Lemon Law" act and also informed Chrysler of this. It was finally brought in while it was creating the same problem (will no longer fix it self), Gator Chrysler informed us that the antennae and the modulator were NO GOOD! Less than 24 hours later, we were informed that it didn't fix the problem and that it must now be in the radio. This is what we have been stating all along. The dealer now claims that they need permission from Chrysler to replace the radio. Chrysler will not call to talk to the dealership. It looks like they will be buying back a truck.

I think he implied its easier to get the lemon law process oging and taken care of than actually getting FCA to fix the vehicle. And unfortunately its not a unique experience.

@OP - Wondering if somehow the water leak caused issues with electronics because humidity is bad for them. Even if the water didnt directly come in contact with the radio, etc, the humidity trapped in the cab can still cause issues.

State Of Florida states after 4 repairs that if the truck can't be repaired on the 5th time They must buy it back. This is the 5th time and they seem to not want to repair it.

Gotcha.

Well I have followed a couple of people trying to lemon law in Florida before with issues of similar "value" and I can tell you based on what you described you will lose a lemon law case. Just being honest. You are not meeting the criteria of the Florida lemon law. In particular you vehicle has not been out of service and second it has to "substantially impair the use, value, or safety" of the vehicle.
while it sucks you are having issues your best course of action is continue to work with the dealer to get it fixed.

"
In order for your car to be considered a lemon, the following must have occurred within 24 months following the date of delivery(the Lemon Law Rights Period):

  • The vehicle defect or condition must "substantially impair the use, value, or safety" of the vehicle.
  • The vehicle must have undergone at least 3 attempts to repair the same issue.
  • The vehicle must have out of service for repair of the defect for 15 days or more."

You need to read what I just posted. You are going to be disappointed.

You only have to prove substantial value impairment, you could show that the retail value of your vehicle is significantly less than it would be without the defect. CHECK

The vehicle must have undergone at least 3 attempts to repair the same issue. 5th time CHECK

But a radio being intermittent isn't "substantial" value. A $1000 radio on a $40K+ truck jsut isn't substantial.

Not trying to argue with you just making you aware of very similar cases I have seen on here. Those guys all went in like you 100% sure they had a solid case and they lost.

A leak that was fixed and a bad radio is not a "list".

Just go to a different dealer or contact FCA directly. It sounds like you just don't want the truck anymore.

The have had my truck for over a total of 15 times for repairs, The only complaint I am making is they should be able to fix a single item repair in a maximum 2 two trips not 5 and counting

I know it's frustrating. I would try another dealer if you can. I think going down the lemon law road is going to end in even more frustration and disappointment.

Is that Gator Chrysler in Palm Bay? Not sure what other dealers are close these days (grew up in Melbourne) but see if you can find another.

Maybe @RamCares can chime in and help you out? (They are Ram corporate customer service I think?)

One more thing to add to what mtnrider listed for the Florida lemon law. FCA gets one final repair attempt. Has FCA actually said they weren’t going to replace the radio?

A pm can’t be sent unless you have a substantial number of post.
