WIth a cylinder #3 misfire the first thing to do is make sure that the injector connector and coil connector are seated firmly. Give the connectors and wiring near the coil and injector a wiggle test and see if the misfire changes or goes away.

Next, remove the coil and spark plugs from cylinder #3 and inspect the porcelain for cracking or burning. When the porcelain begins to break down the electricity generated from the coil will not make it all the way through the spark plug to the tip. If they are breaking down at the porcelain some of the coils energy can escape through the porcelain at the base where the porcelain meets the steel.

Look inside the coil boots and inspect for corrosion or water intrusion.

Swap the coil from cylinder #3 to cylinder #4 on the other side and see if the misfire follows the coil. Make sure to mark the coils so you know which cylinder it originally came from.

If the misfire does not follow the coil put the coils back in their original locations. Then, swap the plugs from cylinder #3 to cylinder #4 and see if the misfire follows the spark plugs. If no change put them back in their original locations.

Do you have the HEMI lifter tick?

Next, perform a compression test on cylinder #3 and record your measurements.

Then, perform a cylinder leakdown test to verify the integrity of the cylinder and the valves.

Remove the left bank rocker cover and inspect the valve springs and the pushrods. Rotate the motor over and see if all of the rocker arms are moving evenly.

This is a good place to begin.

Quess I should have led with yes there is a lifter ticking, motor still running smooth but have been unable to quiet it by changing oils and adding additives. And the code remains.

How long has the MIL (check engine light) been on?

Does the check engine light ever flash?

What all have you tried to get rid of the misfire?
