Thinking about a 2500 Rebel 6.4 Hemi

I'm in the process of looking to order a 2023 and just found out today that they cannot order a 3500 with a 6.4 Hemi as of this week.

So, I started to looking into the 2500 Rebel. Here in MN, license plate tab costs go by the MSRP, so the 2500 is usually very expensive every year for tabs, while a 3500 gets Y-plates and flat rate tabs of $130.

I looked into the Rebel with a 6.4, Level 2, all of the options. It seems like a poor man's TRX in way.

Do the Rebels and PW's already come 2" higher than a standard 2500? I'm not a fan of the Rebel rims or tire size. Could 35's be put on a PW or Rebel without having to mess with the suspension?

I found one similar and ran the towing and payload numbers using the VIN and with the Hemi, it would be within my range that I need.

The Rebels don’t come with a factory lift but I would think 35s would fit.
The PW will hold 37s with very slight rubbing depending on tires and wheels with its factory lift.

I'll be honest, the rebel is a lot of lipstick (at a high cost) and not much substance. It in no way, shape, or forum, even comes close to a poor mans TRX or a power wagon for that matter.

Sounds like you already don't like the wheels so why pay a rebel premium for wheels and badging? Save your money and get a non-rebel 2500.

Another option is the powerwagon package on the tradesman trim. That looks like the cheapest way to get into that sort of truck.

He would need to be mindful of the payload and towing numbers on the PW though. I'm guessing he may already be near the max of a standard 2500 if he was initially looking at 3500's so a PW would be out of the question.

If you read his post, it's most likely the license plate cost for wanting a 3500.

I changed my mind out the Rebel. I thought of it as an option once I found out I could not order a 3500 Laramie with a 6.4.

I am kinda glad that even though I could of afforded a big horn or rebel the chance to get a cheap tradesman with all the towing stuff actually turned out ok.I used that 20k to put a roll n lock lift running boards and blower on how I wanted it.I don’t miss leather seats,blind spot and all the nanny stuff I had on the previous merc suv. But I have the time to waste.Do wish it was a 6.4.

I ordered a 3500 hemi mega cab in january. It showed up last week and i decided not to buy the truck.

It is still at larry miller ram in sandy, utah if you are interested. Sounds like it might be one of the last ones ever.

Why did you decide not to buy it? If I order another Hemi, it'll be a 3500 Laramie. I'm told its on restriction, but it could be ordered, whether or not it get built....

Between the time I ordered it and the time it arrived, I got hit with a 50k property payment and a 15k tax bill.. Was intending to pay cash for the truck and with interest rates a 7.5%, even with top tier credit, no chance i finance any portion of it.

Build is a laramie, mega cab, night edition in granite, with 4.10s .. I think sticker was 87k. It's a loaded truck.

I checked the website and didn't see it on there.
The dealer where I am told me now they can order a Laramie 3500 6.4 for a customer order, but not for lot inventory. However it is on restriction and may never get built. I hate to by upper 80s for the Laramie Cummins. It just doesn't seem like an upper 80s truck.

The laramie I ordered is a Hemi. The cummins would have been +9k or so. The sales person i ordered from is keeping the truck tucked away so as not to lose a commission. Ask for John D. if you call.
