Yesterday while looking things over under the hood, I noticed my throttle cable felt kinda sloppy. Pulling the end away from the linkage, it had a good quarter of an inch of slack before tensing up.

As with many little things on my truck, this does pique my curiosity. How much slack is considered "normal" for a throttle cable?

To my knowledge, there is no real proper length the TB cable should be at. The minimum of what you should look for is for the pedal to be at the floor and the throttle plates to be all the way open. Personally I took some slack out of mine with a small zip tie in the cab. It helped out throttle response a little fit and made WOT more accessible as I wasn't having to bury the pedal to get there.
