The 68RFE transmission in the Ram is designed to slowly bring on the power as well, for that same reason. I've seen people complain that it's slipping when it's not. It's just designed not to deliver all of the torque instantaneously. That's why so many grenade them when they turn up the power.

If there truly is a problem with passing people because of a horrible response and it isn't just someone who is used to a gas engine's instant power band, there's likely a turbo issue. I've yet to have an issue with passing anyone at any speed I want and 20 psi of boost comes on pretty quickly when I need it. If it's not a turbo issue, then you likely just need to get used to how a diesel is designed to operate.

I certainly wouldn't try to make mods to get that seat of the pants feel without beefing up everything in the driveline or the next post may be that you broke a driveshaft, popped a ujoint, or burnt up a transmission or rear diff.

THROTTLE CONTROLLER

Again thanks for the information.

It looks like I will use BANKS with my cell phone and not there $250 gauge. I just want to set once and leave it alone. NOW this is what happen when I called Banks sales for some information ONLY. I still was not 100% sure about Banks.

Called sales (a human did answer) for information and the first thing I had to do was give all of the personal and shipping information. I then tried to ask a question but he started to try and get me to order everything that Banks makes. I told him I just wanted information about the controls that I would need on my phone. He just started to say there was a 2 to 4 week waiting list but he just moved me to the top of the list so I will get it sooner. That’s when I again asked if it could be used with my phone. I use my phone for calls and text messages and not much else. I wanted to know if it is a simple connection to use once and not have to install something every time I use my truck. I think he said it would not be problem but by then I just about was not listing to the BS that he was giving. Would you buy from someone like that? I said thank you for the information and hung up.

Amazon sells the same Banks controller same price and 2 day shipping AND 30 day return warranty. I know nothing about connecting things to my cell phone but I did connect my fishing license with the Fish & Game office staff helping me in person. I’m in my eighties so don’t laugh.

Any thoughts about this and just how easy is to set up? I’m just trying to make sure I can use this controller…..I'VE HAD THIS TRUCK TO THE DEALER'S NEAR ME AND ALWAYS TOLD NOTHING WRONG.
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? GET A CONTROLLER.....

If you've taken it in and they're telling you that nothing is wrong, it sounds like nothing is wrong.

Honest question... is this your first diesel? They do not have the throttle response that a gas engine truck has. That is not a flaw nor a problem with the truck. It's the lack of understanding of how they are designed to perform.

By all means, if you want to install aftermarket components to try and improve performance go for it. But I don't know that you're going to get what you're looking for if your expectations aren't aligned with the capability of the truck and what they are designed to do.

You don't want 1000 lb/ft of torque being delivered through your driveline to your rear tires at once. Hence... the reason throttle response isn't as crisp to begin with. That's fine if you can manage your right foot, but if you forget and stomp on it while hooked up to your trailer, the weakest link will quickly show itself.

I don't know if the Banks products on Amazon are real, or are counterfeit. That has been an issue with some parts. But according to their website:

Q: Who do I call or text about buying a Banks products?

You can order Banks directly from us at bankspower.com or by visiting a Banks installing dealer. If you live in the greater Los Angeles area, your Banks system can be installed at our Azusa facility. For information about direct purchasing or a dealer recommendation, call Banks at 800-601-8072.

I bought the Banks and it is pretty easy to connect to the phone app and it does exactly hat I wanted it takes out the dead pedal feel. I just have it set on City 5. I played with it on higher settings and yeah its fun but I only wanted to get rid of the dead pedal not make it a race truck.

None of these throttle controllers are going to make the turbo spin up any faster. None of them are going to make the throttle go to 110%. They change your perception by going to say full throttle when you push the pedal half way. It is your money and your truck. If it makes you feel better having one, go for it.

One can achieve a similar effect by putting one of the pedal blocks / extenders for short people on the skinny pedal. That way to can floor it without having to extend your foot so much.

Sounds like the OP is not used to driving his truck or the feel of a diesel. I know lots of people that drive them and no one has a complaint and they can pass me with ease when we are towing travel trailers. I know the Rams have a different feel in the pedals both gas and diesel, After driving work trucks all day i have to get used to mine again as it takes a little more force on the pedal.. Not trying to be a smart ass to the OP but are you sure your not driving like grandpa ;)
