Why in the world are manifold bolts breaking? Are they torqued to tight from the factory and are their replacement bolts that work better?

Just poor quality bolts/studs, they can’t take the temperature cycles. Grade #8 or better bolts would be best.

I was told that on cold startups you may get some ticking due to the oil being so thin now a days. I was also told it won't hurt it. I've run synthetic in past vehicles but my 07 has the Unlimited Time & Mileage Max Car Bumper to Bumper warranty so I let Dodge put whatever they recommend. Cost's me about $30-$35 for an oil change. If it blows up they can fix it.

S0 that would be 100% false with all due respect, when 5w20 is cold it is very thick. Not until the temp get to operating temps at least 7 to 10 minutes does it become thin. To determine if it is a danger or not is kinda easy, just do uoa's with it ticking and if you were able to fix the tick another uoa. Ticking hemi's have had **** all wear numbers. We had a guy with a ticking hemi do 3 uoa's before his truck died and the wear was astronomical. I wish I could find the link it has been over 5 years ago, but it is here.

Here is an example pdf, most 5w20's very similar.

At 40c (startup temp) The visc is 49
At 100c (operating temp) The visc is 8.5

So as you can see when a truck starts the oil is at it's thickest, in fact thicker then the thickest oil you can buy at operating temps, even 5w20. Most trucks even start thicker then that number, that number is at 104f and it the "highest" starting temps. If you start your truck and it's 70f or colder the oil will be even thicker then that.

It is amazing how some people's truck sounds like a sewing machine and everyone says nah that is hunky dory. If you can fix it by running a better oil do it.

I was under the impression that using a heavier weight oil would mess with the MDS.
I've been using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5-20 and until just recently it's been quiet but suddenly it taps/ticks for maybe 10+- seconds upon start up even in this hot weather.

The heavier oil wont hurt it at all there have been guys run 40w with no problems.
Also the 6.4 uses the same lifers as the 5.7 and FCA specs out 0w40 for the 6.4.

I would look at your manifold bolts and if none of them are broke then look to a different oil maybe.

I run PUP 0-40 and I've had no issues with MDS. It actually engages more and longer.
