Hopefully they're also replacing the cam and all the timing components and not just stuffing new lifters in it. If you're original thermostat is still good,re-use it,odds are it'll better then any new thermostat you stick in it,at the very least, get the old thermostat back,so you can stick it back in if your new t-stat goes bad in a couple months. Have your stock exhaust manifolds planed or sanded flat and install them with Remflex 6022 gaskets instead of installing shorties. Shorties no matter which brand you buy are famous for cracking, and they don't add squat for power.
They said for sure a new cam, lifters, and t stat. My t stat isn’t even that old but they insist. I’ll find out about timing components.

Well gentleman, it all worked out. That noise was in fact a few jacked up lifters and the beginning stages of the cam going downhill. There is clear scoring on it, but it’s very minimal. The warranty company will be paying for it. Any recommendations on things to do while they’re in there? Water pump will be done, short tube headers, new t stat, and fluids of course. Any thing else?
Nice, I think you got lucky, but better to be lucky then good.

Are they pulling the pan also for a good clean out?Did they indeed check the VVT after finding this damage?
Is that standard procedure for a lifter/cam replacement?
I suppose you could request or demand it to be done I guess.
