I have a 2022 ram 1500 5.7 with etorque. I was pulling in the garage yesterday and noticed a ticking noise coming from the wheel well area on the passenger side. Only makes the noise when it is warmed up and at an idle. It is rpm related. Bought the truck new and it has 15000 highway miles. Oil has been changed every 5000 miles. Is this the dreaded lifter failure? Love the truck, but will be disappointed if it already has engine problems. Going in to dealer in two weeks for appointment. Any thoughts?

It's very hard to say from the info you've posted. If I had to guess I'd say probably not. You are probably hearing coil packs firing or fuel injectors and it's just easier to hear from that side. If you have hood open and put your ear down closer it's pretty easy to tell the difference between coil packs/fuel injectors and bad lifters. Again, I doubt you are hearing bad lifters.

I hear the injectors and maybe the coil packs making a random clicking noise, but this is a solid click that can be heard mainly through the wheel well. It is once per engine revolution. Didn’t make it when it was new and has only started in the last 1000 miles or so. Who knows.

I will try. Took it to the dealer this morning and made an appt. They listened to it and think it may be a lifter. I told them I was going to make a road trip in a few weeks and they advised not to leave town with it until they can evaluate. Appt this week. I will advise.

Any update on what the problem was? And if it was fixed?
