So, I went to clean my truck today, and I opened my hood and decided to start with the engine. Now, a little back story, I recently bought the truck and according to carfax it was originally in new York. Looking at the engine bay, you can tell. There is a ton of rusty areas, and the valve covers and alot of the engine is covered in salty corrosion.
I say all that to say this...a simple cleaning of my engine has turned into a tear down and deep clean
. So far I've been working on cleaning all hoses, and I have all the plastic (air flow) removed. Of course, this lets me have easy access to the throttle body, so I removed and cleaned it. Here is the before pic...
It's all nice and pretty now, but too dark to take pics. Tomorrows agenda includes removing the valve covers, sanding and painting them, replacing them, tonight I'll be overhauling all plastic I removed and glossing them up, replacing all spark plugs and busting away at any other corrosion I can get to. I'll post updates as they happen.
By the way, throttle response is incredible now!!! Like a new truck!
