I have a 2003 ram 1500 5.7 hemi my cargo lights, dome lights power mirrors stuff like that dont work. I believe the tipm is bad. Will i have to have the 2003 programmed for the truck? Or can i just swap one out with the same part number

Your 2003 Ram 1500 does not have a TIPM like the 2006+ trucks do. You have what's called the FCM or Front Control Module. It is mounted to the side of the PDC or Power Distribution Center under the hood. It has two screws that secure the module in place.

You can grab an FCM from the local Pick N Pull or order a used one online. Either will work fine and no programming is necessary.

I was under the impression the tipm was the fuse box under the hood? Would this cause my truck to do weird stuff like that?

On the 2002-2005 model Ram Trucks the fuse and relay box is called the Power Distribution Center and they have a separate Front Control Module.

The FCM controls the lights, locks, power stuff etc.. if the FCM fails these power options may not work and they may act crazy

So I need the fcm? Could my power distribution center be bad? Everything i can tell works on the truck except the dome lights, powermirrors, heated mirrors, cargo light. And the truck has no memory when you shut the key off fuel economy resets all that stuff... also most truck when you shut the key off the radio and stuff will play til you open the door mine goes off instantly

Radio on after key off is a selectable setting that can be programmed to be on or off.

If it were me, I would look at the wiring diagram and do some testing and diagnostics to verify that the wiring is intact. A scan tool would go a long way here. You could actuate each system that is not working properly and determine why it's not working very quickly.

You will need a scan tool with bi-directional capabilities. In my home shop I use an older Snap On Verus Pro and I recently purchased a Launch X431 Pro3 VS 5.0 and it has been a fantastic unit.
