Federal law says they must put the manufacturer recommended pressure on the door pillar. For 2019 6.4 with 18 inch wheels it is 80 rear 70 front. You must fill them to that amount to reset the TPMS then I would not drop it below 10 psi of recommended. 70 rear 60 front or you get the TPMS warnings. Additionally going too soft reduces gas mileage and could cause additional tire ware and handling issues.

Those PSI don't apply if you use different tires, and can be dangerous is you downgrade to a D vs. E rated tire. The calculation is pretty simple. Know your max PSI at max weight. Then, determine unloaded weight; then as a % of max weight the tire allows. Then reduce your PSI by that same %.

so if the chart shows 3500 pounds at 40 psi is that the total axel waight? or do u divided in half? max is 80 psi for this tire and 3680 pounds so I think it can be loaded up to 7360.

Each tire. If each tire says 3500, then it is 7K for that axle. If you are sitting at 5K on your rear axle, then you are at 71% of your tire's max weight for that axle. If the max PSI of your tire is 70, then you would multiply that by 71% and get 49.7 PSI.

after going thru the cat weight scale with full tank and wife and me I had 5300 front 3500 rear with those numbers where should my daily driving air pressure be? LT275/70R18 Firestone are the tires I'm runing. door states 80/80

It depends entirely on what the max load for your tires are. Here are your specs: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...d White Letters&partnum=77R8TAT2OWL&tab=Sizes

It states your Max load = 3640 per tire, at 80 PSI, or 7280 per axle.

Your front axle = 5300 or 72% of max.. so 72% * 80 PSI = 57.6 PSI
Your rear axle = 3500 or 48% of max.. so 48% * 80 PSI = 38.4 PSI

As you can see, many people drive around waaaaaaay overinflated for their empty load. You did the exact same thing I did, filled the truck up with gas, and went and got each of my axles weighed, so I can stop guessing.

Yes my tires were horrible when I picked then up from the dealer. I had a 450 mile drive home and got about 100 miles into it and started looking through the pages of info and my tires were at 92 pounds. I pulled over at the next exit and had to by a tire gauge to lower them. Much better at 65 pounds. Bought new tires as I hated the transforce that came on it. Bought the AT3 when I got home and love the traction and ride. Problem is now after 3000 miles now one of the TPMS sensors doesn't register so I need to figure out how to reset of go to the dealer.

Use a load chart for your tires and weight...

When I picked up my 2020 RAM 2500 4X4 last August the tire pressure on all corners was 80 PSI. Should the dealer have let the truck leave the lot without checking the door for the "Maximum Pressure"of 60 psi? No big deal, I just lowered all to 60 psi on a cool morning.
I take my truck in tomorrow to have the TPMS sensors replaced as per TSB # 22-002-20. Only thing, I can't find anything about the TSB # 22-002-20. Has anyone had the service performed?

I keep mine at 58/62 and it rides very well. I just had the tires rotated at 6k and they’re wearing evenly.
How do you lower your tires that low with out TPMS light coming on etc?

After dealership blowing me off saying they cant do anything I called RAM. Talked to a glorified secretary that passes information to engineering etc. she called me back and said they cant do anything either! Very upset that they do this to a 50K truck and I have to either feel every Pennsylvania bump etc. or deal with a warning light and gauge showing low rear tire pressure. The truck is empty going down the road, no reason for 65+psi!! My rear tires are not going to wear wrong because I have 50-55psi in them as well as no weight in bed or towing!

That’s not the manufacturers fault. Blame the people who never check their tires, had blow outs due to under inflation, and crashed. Now it’s federal law that the TPMS needs to be set for the capacity of the truck.

Fortunately for the price of a Bluetooth OBDII dongle, security bypass cable, and AlfaOBD you can set tire pressure to whatever you want along with many other cool features.

My tires were all at 80+ when I was driving mine home, also way above the 65 psi on the door.
I lowered them and they read around 70 this morning and I'm going to put them at about 60-62 and see how they feel.

65 is definitely better than 80, But 50 is much better than 65. I can feel the bumps much more above 50
