Tire Pressure Readout Question

I just traded in my 2006 1500 for a 2018 2500 SLT 6.7. The technology in the new truck is a bit overwhelming! So my instrument cluster has a bunch of different screens, one of them shows the tire pressure in each tire. The pressures were a bit low as far as this screen was telling me so I checked them out. The fronts were both a bit low, around 75psi and the rears were high, about 90 psi. So I set all 4 to 80 psi with what I believe to be a reliable tire pressure gauge. Now the screen shows the rears at 79 psi, which is acceptable to me but the fronts are showing 73.

Does this screen typically show inaccurate tire pressure readings? Can it be calibrated?

The tire pressure monitors read in whole numbers and are finicky. What I do is check the tire pressure early in the morning before the sun comes up and starts heating the sun facing tires. I set all pressure cold.

Start the truck and get the pressure close. Switch to the tire pressure readout on the EVIC and adjust accordingly until the dash reads the right pressure.

How quickly did you check the numbers after adjusting the pressure?

Mine takes a little bit of time to change.

Mine always takes a little bit of time to correctly adjust too. My rear tires seem to fluctuate less, I’m assuming because there is way less weight on them then the front. I also suggest doing a chalk test on all four tires to get a better idea of what PSI to run. There’s generally no need to run 80 PSI in the rear unless you are towing / hauling a load
