Have about 23k miles on my OEM Goodyear Wrangler SRAs. At first I was reasonably pleased with the tire, now I am starting to feel slip. Important to me is all weather traction, good in rain, comfortable ride.

Looking for recommendations of a reasonably priced alternative. Looking to keep OEM specs 275/60/20

And go....

Toyo BFG Nitto Cooper ... Anything is better than the stock rubbers ... Lot of diff tires on trucks here ... Everyone likes what they got ... End of the day, you still gotta pick for yourself

Question: Are you wanting a All-Season / All-Terrain / Mud-Terrain as a replacement?

Some of todays tread patterns have turned into severe Hybrids.
You have a lot of choices!

Does your Ram stay on the Tarmac most of time with very little off road adventures?
Basically - Snow/Ice/Rain to deal with.

BFG KO 2's - Get the soft compound if you drive in snow. They have a harder compound also with a 50K warranty. If you get 275/65/20 the price is $100 a tire cheaper than 285/60/20 which are my stock size. They are 34" tall so a little taller but they weight 1lb more than my stock tires which are Firestones. Your other option is if you can find a local tire shop to Sipe you existing tires. They have to have a certain minimum tred but it will probably get you through winter. Looking at your weather you need snow tires right now.

Any HT tire will do, if you’re interested in price/performance, Falken Wildpeak HT, Cooper Discoverer HT plus or Pathfinder HT will be good choices in the same price range of the SRA’s, but will drive circles around the crappy gy’s.

I'm in the same boat. 33,500 on my stock tires, and will need replacement soon. Lots of choices out there, just have to do my research.

Here and Tire Rack are good places to do that research ... You can do the HT thing, but there are also a lot of AT’s and hybrids that have great onroad manners with a nice aggresive look, even if a load of mulch to your backyard is the extent of your offroading ... Good luck guys

I agree that research here, The Tire Rack, and Discount Tire are the best. Read the comments and look at the ratings. I would recommend Michelin's, but you said "reasonable" priced. I run Michelins and have on all of the 4th gen's I have owned--never a complaint--not one!

The tires will be street only. Discount Tire offering me a $300 credit for my Wrangler ATs @ 6/32.

Considering Nitto, KO2s recommended to me and Cooper (which I never owned before) will run me about $150 less than the BFG/Nitto options. Plus Cooper has a $70 rebate.

I have read reviews and problem is I research myself in a circle.

My favorite is the $120 option for road hazard.

Well the good thing about it is if you don't do your research, you can buy tires based on someone else's suggestion and then, when or if you have problems, you can always blame them. LOL

Well, first and foremost since you said you want a comfortable ride, I’d steer clear from the recommendation towards the BFG KO’s. Had a set- actually still have a set until I can get them sold but I took mine off for a set of the Michelin Defenders. So far those handle great in rain and wet roads and seem to be pretty good against hydroplaning. Ain’t tried them on ice or snow yet since we ain’t got none here so far in southern Oklahoma but tire rack rates these tires fairly well in light snow and on ice. Actually, every aspect of snow/ice/mud, so on and so forth is really high. A lot better than the BFG’s.

They ride really nice too. Plus with a lot longer tread life as well.

As far as the BFG’s, they are a great tire- for what they’re designed for. Keep in mind these are an 8-ply LT tire, twice the ply as them stock Goodyear’s you have on there now. If you get them you can probably run them whatever tire pressure you want but BFG recommends 55psi with a minimum of 50. You can run them at 39(Goodyear’s pressure) but to me, when I ran mine that low, they felt awful spongy on cornering and stopping. Rode alright, but even with my air suspension, I felt a lot more bumps on the road.

Do you tow heavy trailers a lot? Go off-roading a lot? Go in places where you get flats often? Those bfgs might be for you. But if not, I’d stay away from them. They’ll also reduce your mileage too.

Uh, it’s gonna be a lot more than just a pound difference per tire. Comparing the stock size SRA’s to the BFG’s, it’s more like 15 pounds per tire.

But I see you speak of a softer compound- I’ve never heard of those, but are they still an 8-ply LT? In the stock size?

Love my KO 2s.

I loved mine at first but I just don’t use my truck no where near for what those were for. I prefer gas mileage, ride comfort, and longer tread life. I don’t hardly tow and when I do, I very very rarely pull anything heavy enough to require an 8-ply tire.

Okay, I don’t tow, no off road. Good point, I run my OEMs at 38 psi, give or take.

So if your recommendation is not to go with the BFGs (gas mileage is important) still looking for recommendation.

Well as of last week, the BFG At KO’s were pretty much the same price as the Michelin Defender LTX at Discount tire.

But yeah OP, I can’t really give an accurate recommendation towards my Michelin’s because I’ve only had them a week. But so far I’m pretty happy with them. I got my ride back and I’m pretty sure I got my gas mileage back too. Can’t really verify the mileage part because I haven’t put no more than 200 miles on them yet.

I think you’ll like them. As PullYa said, there’s quite a bit of happy customers on here regarding them.
