Looking for some tips on tire rotation. With my Xterra that had 33s on steel wheels it was a big chore to rotate the tires being they were so heavy. Now with my 37s I have on the Ram I was looking for any tips or trucks on rotating without breaking my back. I'll be rotating these fairly frequently the get the most out of these $400+ tires and was wondering if anyone uses anything to help when lifting and setting them in the lugs. I also want to avoid scratching up my rims while doing so.

I'm gonna do it every 1000 miles, cause that'll be 4 or 5 months.

Can't say that I can help you out on how to make it easier... I just have the dealer do mine every other oil change.

roll the tire onto a 2x4 and use the 2x4 to pry the wheel up into place, or when you jack the truck up. use your jack to align the height of the bolts and slide the wheel into place. only lift the wheels high enough off the ground that you can slide them off. you dont need a 2" gap under them to remove them.

I do it every oil change at 5,000 miles but damn I guess I'm lacking. And my shop does the rotation at no charge.

I like the 2x4 idea. I was thinking something like that would work. I figured something similar to the idea of a drywall skate. 1000 miles seems pretty frequent but I read that somewhere else as well. If it'll get me more life outa my tires then that's what I'll shoot for.

I used to Change a lot of tires on military vehicles. Usually I use a 6' pry bar but not too many people have those so I usually suggest the 2x4. Don't forget to get a decent torque wrench if you don't already have one.
