I have a 2006 2500 with 265 70 17 on it now. I want to go 285 70 17 for a beefier look. Will these fit without a leveling kit? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Thanks guys, the 265's look so wimpy on that truck. I want bigger tires but I don't want them to looked stuffed in there either. I am going to get them in about a month. The goodyears on there are getting pretty thin. I am thinking about a flowmaster cat back exhaust. If it looks mean it needs to sound mean!

285/70/17's are roughly 33" tires........or you could say the same diameter as the tires that come stock on the 20's on the 1500's.....you could definitlely go bigger and not look stuffed.

are you 2wd or 4x4? i have a 2wd, and with 285/75R/17 the front was WAY stuffed. with the leveling kit it looks awesome. tire is about 33.6" you can see how it looks in my sig pic

edit: dont waste your money on a catback exhaust. it comes stock with plenty good piping. just replace the muffler, and consider doing something about the stock Y pipe, you will be set, and get off a hell of a lot cheaper.

Thanks, now to find a tire I like. I have had coopers in the past but the atr's on my wifes jeep are just about shot and they are not even 2 years old yet. I had some mastercraft at 2 on the old silverado and they were wearing pretty good when I got rid of it. Kind of like the look of the nitto terra grapplers. Hell I don't.know, any suggestions? I know im looking at dropping a grand..

What kind of tire are you looking for? Just an A/T of a full blown mud tire?

I've got the Kumho road venture AT's on mine and love them. Not much road noise, fairly aggressive tread pattern and they've handled the little mud and snow I've taken it through with ease

I'm not looking for any mud tires, way too much road hum. Good at tire. I have a fourwheeler for the mud, not into mudding my truck.

You can run 35x12.50 on the stock rim .. I did on my 2500 mega before I went with the 6" lift on 37's

whatever tire you decide on, since you have a HD, if you plan on doing any serious towing, make sure you get an E load range tire.

I have put this off long enough, time for the new skins. I have picked out the nitto terra grapplers. Now to pick out a size... They are going on a 06 2500 4x4. 285/70/17 32.76 dia, 285/75/17 33.86 dia, 295/70/17 33.19 dia or 305/70/17 33.98 dia. Which size will look the best and not rub? Truck is stock height with no level kit. I am going to order these off the net and I found a place to mount and balance all 4 for $40.

Awesome on the tire choice. I have the same ones. You should be able to run the 34's no problem. My 1500 is leveled with 34's and sits about the height of a stock 2500.

Right now I am thinking the 285/75/17. I just don't want any rubbing issues. Once I order them they are mine and I don't want any issues if you know what I mean.

oh yeah, definitely know what you're saying. My leveling kit said I could fit 35's but I went with 34's to be safe. Those will look good on your truck. I've had my TG's for over 2years now and have 30k on them and they still have half of their original tread depth left.
