TIRE SIZE QUESTION

I know this has been asked almost million times because I have been searching the forum this past week. Issue is I haven't found a 100% answer and I also wanted to see pictures of other setups if possible. I have a 2018 ram 1500 crew cab 2wd 3.6l with a front leveling kit. It has the stock blacked out 20 inch wheels. I'm due for some new tires soon and I wanted to get a bigger size, nothing crazy being it's a 2wd but I would like to give it that better look. Will a 285/65/20 fit with a front leveling kit? At some point before I purchase the new tires I am buying the Bilstein 5100 shocks front and rear. Picture of my truck below.

That's basically the same thing so I'm sure it will. Even if you went to a 305 or 315/65/20 and had some rubbing, 10min with a mallet will make them fit. I fit 305/70/18 without a level, just needed some percussive encouragement on the inside of the fender behind the tire.

That said, 2wd with the 3.6 is picture perfect example of a pavement princess, I wouldn't get carried away trying to fit the biggest possible tire. I wouldn't go past a 33" personally. Just opinion of course.

I'm not wanting all terrain tires. I'm getting a all season tire but wanted just a little bit bigger than stock. I do a lot of highway driving. I just wanted to add just a little something something to the look is all lol. I'm not trying to modify my truck to look like anything that goes off road. Just a few small things to make me happy. Leveling kit, different tires, led interior lights, etc etc lol just small stuff. Appreciate the help!

I know that when I recently went from a 275/60/20 to a 275/65/20, I got the look I was going for and actually a better ride. I am glad that I only added one inch of height as I live at about 3200' elevation and frequently go up long stretches of steep hills. Even still, it downshifts where it didn't before, so I am glad I didn't go too tall or heavy on the tires and glad I didn't get the 35" tires I was contemplating, even though I have the 5.7 hemi with 3.92 gears.

It's not basically the same. The 295 is the width, just shy of 12 inches, which might very well give you issues with tire riding UCAs. The 65 is the percentage of the width per side of wheel. With a stock wheel, no spacer, you are going to rub at full lock. Most black 20s are only 8 inch wide so 2 inches of sidewall sticking out past wheel, but more importantly, 2 inches sticking inside.

I mean yes, that is a possibility, but I was more so referring to the diameter. Even then, if you are hitting the UCA then you have the wrong wheel as well, not just tire. Not sure what the OP is running for wheels, but I like to have some decent backspacing so I can fit whatever I want, and I forget that some people try to run wide tires but for some reason still have a narrow stance.

I currently run LT295/65R20's Michelin Defender LTX M/S on my stock 20x9 rims for my summer set up, and have 5100's all around with the fronts set to 2.1" raised.

Zero rubbing, smooth ride, great stance, too.
