Tire sizes for 08 ram 1500

i have a 2008 ram 1500 4x4 quad cab st. The truck is stock, currently with 265/70r17 tires on. anyone know how big of tires i can run on it? i want to run 35x12.50r20 if possible. is a levelling kit needed for this? thanks.

If you are using the stock 20" wheels with a 35x12.50x20 you will need wheel spacers to keep the tires from rubbing the suspension. A 2.5" leveling kit will aid in preventing the tires from rubbing anything else. You will probably have to use at least a 2" spacer between the wheels and the rotors.

Looking at 285/70r17 tires for my stock 2008 Dodge ram 1500. 4x4 quad cab st. stock tires are 265/70r17. will they fit?

Yes, the 285/70/17's will fit just fine. Make sure you have the Speedo corrected by changing the pinion factor in the ABS. You will need a scan tool to do this. Most shops will only charge $25-40 to do it. A Firestone shop can do it or Goodyear if you don't want to go to the dealership. Any independent shop with a good scan tool can knock it out.
