I posted this in Exterior but I think it might fit better here. Sorry for the repost. -

I have noticed that I have some pretty serious tire sling all down the side of my truck. I do use tire dressing when cleaning her up but I have to say it has been about a month since I used any. The brand is Black Magic Tire Wet Since the last time I used any, I have ran my truck through a "TOUCHLESS" car wash. The kind with only the water jets. No Brushes. I have done this about three times since my last tire wet application and I am still getting quite a bit of this stuff on the sides. It is oily in appearance and when I rub it off, Yes I said rub it off, it is black and nasty. I would just like to know if any of you have had this happen for such a prolonged period before like this. Could it be something else, more serious? There are no stains or puddles under my truck and the undercarriage seems to be clean. Is there something I can do to get rid of this stuff or track down the culprit? At this point, I am starting to believe after a nuclear war, there will be only cockroaches and this $hit left. Any help?

I have nothing to say except Black Magic is the absolute worst product line of car care imaginable from my experience.

That's one of the HUGE pluses to Adams SVRT. It doesn't sling, it doesn't attract dust, it doesn't contain silicon, it doesn't contain alcohol, it DOES repel water, it DOES leave vinyl, rubber trim and tires with a light shiny deep black finish, and it DOES have an SPF 35 to protect what you use it on.

You get what you pay for when it comes to detailing products.

You need some All Purpose Cleaner and some elbow grease to get that dressing off of the tires. It may take a few thorough scrubbing sessions to remove it all.

Once you have it all gone, then go with a water-based dressing like our Super VRT that Chewy mentioned.

No sling, no high gloss shine, no sliminess. Nice deep, dark satin finish and it stays where you put it!

Buy some Westley's Bleche White to clean them. Then, stay clear of the super-glossy (greasy) foam cans -- no matter what brand. If you want to finish your greasy product, you can spray it on before you wash. Then, hose it off, and wipe with terry towel. This will provide a clean, non-greasy finish. The only spray foam I'll use is NoTouch Original Satin. It's a little harder to find. I also like Black Magic Titanium Matte (must be discontinued because it's at Big Lots), and Surf City Beyond Black. Stoner More Shine is also OK as long as you stick with 1 coat. I hate the greasy look, and prefer a clean, satin finish. I've heard great things about VRT, and hope to try some one day (when all my other products are spent).

Honestly, I'm not sure how well bleach white will work at removing the silicon build up. You really need a good degreaser that's also safe on clear coated or painted wheels.

Just make sure what EVER you use is clear coat/paint safe. Some products will etch paint, or if you let them dry by mistake will cause issues that only polishing with a machine will fix.

I placed an order yesterday for new 4" pads and some more waterless wash towels.
