You do realize that you have at least 10 more HP and more torque in the 2019 then the 2012. In addition the 2019 has an 8 speed tranny which allows these trucks to run 1/4 miles in 15 seconds at 93 mph with 3.21 gears. Basically your 2019 is like having your 2012 in 4 low but with only rear axle connected to T-case the 1st 3 gears are lower ration then the 1st gear ration in your 2012. In short these trucks have more power and better off the line gearing then your 2012 and will tend to turn tires over in the wet with little difficulty. Hell try highing the gas over the white line at the red light while rolling at 30 or 40.....Yup it launches the tires in to a full out top fuel dragster style tire spin until the traction control /stability control kicks in.

True statement! First two gears in 8sp tranny are very low and that makes a major difference. However, not sure how 2019 has more HP than 2012, since it is the same engine?

I have a 2018 with the 3:92 limited slip rear.... and a heavy foot.

It spins a little once in a while, but very very little.... traction control kicks in and takes care of it in fine fashion.

Traction control off.... pulling out uphill on wet roads is like launching a funny car on an oil slick, limited slip and all.

And the 5 extra HP comes from them going to electric power steering.... it isn't running the hydraulic power steering pump off the engine like they used to.... that freed up 5 hp.

Not sure exactly when they made that change... but that's when it went from 390 to 395 hp.

As others have said, it is the stock tires. I had a 2017 with the SRA's and would lose traction all the time. I switched to the Cooper AT3 XLT tires and it solved the problem. That truck had the 3.21 rear. I now have a 2019 with the 3.92, same tires, pedal commander, and rarely spin the rear tires..

When I'm in a hurry and I get tire spin, I throw it in 4WD. I'll take it back to 2WD when I get close to where I'm headed to avoid the lurching during sharp cornering. This was especially useful when I had the used Toyo's that came on it when I bought it and it snowed the day after I took it home last Feb. Now I have Duratrak's and although the rear breaks loose every once in a while, it's not as bad.

I spin all 4 tires in wet. Maybe I should put in studded tires. :driver:

I installed a Detroit Turtrac limited slip and that cut down on doing a one wheel burn out every time I got on it taking off somewhere.

Sandbags are a cheap and immediate solution. I've picked them up for about $2 each (50#) at Lowes but there's not all year around availability. I have put them in the rear corners but felt a little too much rotational action in cornering so I now put them across the bed right behind the cab. Better tires is the best solution but this is cheaper.

SRAs are complete crap
that’s what it bought too! at 28000 miles i had a blow out on the sras!!! the 392 gears will light them up even on dry concrete but it’s much better now

My personal experience has to always drop the Ram factory tires in the first 1000 miles...

That's what I did with my first Ram. My second one, I had the dealer swap them before delivery. Sold the OEMS for $500 in less than 12 hours on CL. I figured they weren't worth half that...

On unfrozen, wet pavement, studs will lower your available traction and make it easier to spin.

If you're spinning in 4WD maybe you need rain slicks. Or remove your power adder.

I dropped my Nexan OEM tires yesterday at 1,129 miles and went with the Michelin Defenders (per my post in this thread) yesterday. I always dump the stock tires for Michelin Defender LTX M/S whenever I get a new truck. I get a superior ride, wet traction performance and longevity from them.

I’ve been waiting for a sale and got a deal yesterday at Discount Tire - $842 installed with tax and all. Then I get a $41.50 rebate from Discount Tire making them $800.50. I used Costco’s price match and they beat it. Best tires ever.
